Wirtz has done okay, but his presence is completely ruining the midfield, it just doesn't work. The less said about Frimpong and Kerkez the better, our squad planning for the last couple of seasons has been an absolute shambles.

Macca in not being a 6 shocker

Typical, first time he actually hits the ball with some force, scores and it's ruled out.

Route one, ridiculous.

Good to see Munoz starting, Rio does not look comfortable on the right. Macca too, but I thought he might come in for Wirtz. Without a 6 (or similar), it just feels like we're going to struggle with midfield balance all season.

Agree, but have never seen him so front footed and aggressive on the press before. I do wonder if he can keep it up, clearly under instruction from the new coach.

Plus a midfielder and a RB. Feel like we have been here lots of times...

Why is it that we're generally the ones getting screwed over at the end of the window? Our transfer planning this window has been shambolic - proper UTDesque rubbish.

The chicken man is clearly a member, has linked us with a move for Trent!

Didn't think otherwise, just commenting on how inept he appears to be. I have been fairly chill this summer, but it's ridiculous now.

All well and good being open to opportunistic signings, but having seen Hughes operate, I expect he'll approach clubs thinking we're doing them a favour. Timing means we have to overpay, this level of incompetence was usually reserved for the Mancs.

This midfield is a mess. I can see what Iraola is trying to do but Macalister is not a 6 and we're even more open on the counter.

Terrible cross from Milos.

If that's the case this could be viewed as handover of sorts. It's just being marketed as an investment.

That's because he's average in every way. A couple of seasons back I recall him posting a pic of him working out prior to playing us, with some kinda "getting ready" caption. Which would have been fine if his free weights didn't look like something I used when I was 13 (Argos FTW).

It feels like we're so desperate to maintain our negotiating position that they're prepared to risk our whole season. It's ridiculous.

Jacquet will definitely be pissed if that's true!

A sicknote defender, another one. Smartest guys in the (physio) room.

He's okay, a spurs mate of mine (sorry @Hassony no shade being thrown!) thinks he's decent 1 on 1 but otherwise average. I agree, he's defensively suspect, overly reliant on his pace and has lapses of concentration. But saying all that, we need numbers, he can play both sides, so I'd much rather have him than not. He also knows the league. Not a great endorsement but Bill & Ben have really messed up our squad planning / building.

I know it's pre season but such a marked change from us under Slot, so much more pace to our play. So noticeable, each pass is hit with so much more force. Nyoni looked great.

What's going on here then

Yes and Alonso from what I have read.

Agree, especially as the way we'll play under Andoni will suit him, just getting the ball forward quicker will help him be more effective.
