  1. Funny, I just watched the game again and he reminded me of Beardsley as well. It's the way he seems to be up on his toes as he runs I think He's been great the last few weeks, and I didn't think he had it in him. I do wish he'd go on his own and shoot sometimes, sometimes he over complicates, but that may be a confidence thing. Hopefully there's more to come.
  2. The Madrid fans were shouting 'Madrid!' in the same style. I think our fans did it in reply at one stage.
  3. Got in a taxi after the game and the driver was an Athletico fan. Grinning like a Cheshire cat he was, beaming for the whole journey. He was as delighted as we were I swear! We also found a bar a short walk from Plaza Mayor the night before, a little off the track. The guy behind the bar was a rabid Athletico fan, hung his key ring on the beer pump for every pint he poured all night and there were loads of Athletico fans in there watching the game. All were really friendly despite the Gerard penalty, and he got us a shot in after the game and did one with us!
  4. Coming out after the match last night me and my two brothers are coming up the steps from our seats which were pitch side in the Madrid end. There's steps coming down as well and we spot a bloated Gray and Martin Tyler coming down. My brother shouts Andy Gray! Andy Gray! Andy Gray! and the third time he stops and turns round and looks. "You f***ing blue s****!" "You blue nosed b*****d!" To be fair he knew he'd been done, he was beaming laughing.

  6. Because, my knee jerking friend, the manager is competing with two clubs, actually 3 if you include Arsenal, with vastly superior resources. He's doing this with a boardroom full of liars in complete disarray. He's doing this against a manager who has had 20 years building a club and squad exactly the way he wants it, that the FA are terrified of. He's had limited resources over the last 5 years, not the cheque book waving spending little children who play football manager and think is real. See Chelsea and Tottenham for the kind of situation that kind of idiocy gets you into. And he's built a team that has made the Champions league final twice, with one success (have a look at the records of other teams in our league and see who matches that). He's won the FA cup. This season, the team he's built over the last 4 years, pretty much from scratch has beaten Chelsea twice and Manchester United. In Europe he's beaten pretty much every top level team there is. Now, after you've taken all that in, give me the name of three managers in the world that can emulate that at Liverpool FC, with a spend of about 20-30m a year, with a pair of d****ead interfering owners, within lets say 4 years. Then if you manage the above, which if you are honest you won't be able to, you tell me a manager of that level who wants to come here and build a long term legacy for LFC, a generation of players that wins titles over and over. So thanks for letting us know that 'you don't fancy him', but seriously you are wildly deluding yourself if you think in our circumstances, we can do better than Rafa.
  7. Not to mention the b******s in Europe. Seriously, we've got some raving lunatics following us. Although its pretty sane on here compared with TLW.

  9. Can't believe it's 21 years ago. Christ. The difference in having players who will run at the opposition and take men on is really apparent. we could do with a Beardsley and a Barnes in our team now.

  16. Bang on. I've been critical of him in the past, in fact I thought he wasn't fit to be captain at several stages over the last few years. But especially since Torres came, his relationship with Rafa, the team and the fans has been exemplary. And its true to stay I have massive sympathy over the Southport thing, and it made me realise how much I'd shifted.

  20. I was too pissed in 2005 to ever feel we were really beaten, I had drunken numbness. Today it was f***ing horrendeous. Am going to get hammered before every match until the end of the season. http://www.d1g.com/video/show/?id=2607981 Masch's face at the end
  21. Seriously, my heart was pounding from about 60 mins like a b*****d, and at around 86 before the equaliser I had a very dark moment coming to terms that we weren't good enough to win the league and that it was over for another year, that I was going to spend the rest of the weekend moping. I still can't f***ing believe I've just seen that. I put my head in my hands like an ashamed chimp when Torres scored, its all a bit too much to take.
  22. Looked like there was contact to me to be honest. Alright he went down easily, but at that pace any contact can do that.
  23. I scared the s**** out of my cat. He thinks I'm mental.
  24. Have to win this. Have to.
  25. Sweet karma. You fat c***.
