    Sami upfront ?

Not taking anything away from Sami's header, but I put that down above all to a superb cross by Paletta.
  3. If that article is true then I assume Hiddink's refusal is simply posturing so as to not be seen to be taking another manager's job whilst the position is still occupied. I am sure when Abramovich snaps his fingers, the Russian manager will come running. The best thing from our point of view is that there will be two Dutchmen in positions of power at the same club: order the bodybags now.

  6. I didn't know he had been here a few months. I thought he had only just come over. Rafa's comments about him seeing some first team action towards the end of the season were surely meant for easier games at home against lesser teams. Throwing him in to big games and counting on him to do a job would be putting an awful lot of pressure on him. Maybe he's good enough already, but I would hope we ease him in.
  7. Glad to hear you are feeling better today, Kev, but there's nothing to apologise for. Your passion for the club is second to none. On a side note: maybe Rafa could agree to meet Watford's valuation of Ashley Young, state that he must not play against us on Saturday obviously for injury concerns and then withdraw the offer on Saturday evening on the grounds that the player must be crap as he could not even get into a team fighting relegation?
  8. Less than a year ago: http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1698008,00.html Wenger is a great manager despite that week and Rafa is a great manager despite these last four days. Interestingly they then went on to reach the CL final
  9. Financially and through supporters' pressure he has managed with one hand behind his back and he has still won the most coveted trophy of all and the F.A. cup and produced unbeaten runs and clean sheets that have broken the record books. He is juggling, through no fault of his own, a lot of players who are not good enough for the top level. No-one can judge him until he has been given the money to build his own team. We know how many times he has had to settle for second best in the transfer market. We also know if we are honest that he has had unbearable pressure from the fans to accommodate certain players who would not be his choice. He is having to construct a team around Gerrard and Carragher, two players who do not suit his philosophy of football. They may be great players, one is truly world class, but he would not have bought them were they available from other teams and he had the money. That's no reflection on those two players and I know I will be slaughtered for saying it, but I genuinely believe that he is balancing things as best he can. He's the right manager for us. Saturday and tonight were always on the cards and are nothing more than staging posts on the way to the great Liverpool side he will build. I don't think he was disrespecting anything. A lot of individual errors from players contributed to the results and you cannot blame the manager for individual mistakes. If we lose him we will lose one of the best Liverpool teams ever; the one he will build given money and support.

    Omens

Terrible away form has cost us any chance of a title challenge, knocked out of the F.A cup early after comic defensive errors, on target to lose the Carling Cup Final to Chelsea, facing red hot favourites in the Champions' League.......................................looks just like 2005 all over again

  21. Whatever Manchester United and Chelsea do between now and the end of the season we will still lose silly games a la Blackburn for us to have any real chance of catching them.

  25. Surely his thought process was simply: "How dare you barge me? That's a yellow card, come here" Faye kicks the ball away "Ok here's another yellow calm down, you don't want me to give you a third and send you off do you?"
