  1. Both have a bit of an attitude, but bags of talent. If Rafa feels he can deal with them, I'd be delighted to see those two at Anfield. I think it'd be a great move for both players as well...
  2. Surely it'd be easy to defend against two strikers with so little pace though. I know both are extremely talented footballers, but I just couldn't see it working; not enough movement.
  3. I'm not in favour of any further technology - refereeing decisions for and against are part and parcel of the unpredictability of football for me. I would certainly support a video evidence crackdown on 'simulation' like Robben's the other day though - I think all the diving and cheating is a far more unsavoury part of the game than refs making the same old mistakes...
  4. I've seen people suggest Fowler and Morientes as a partnership - for me absolutely not I'd say one or the other. There would be such an appalling lack of mobility up front, I just don't think it would work.
  5. An absolute tragedy for football. Someone said it could have been Duncan Edwards lifting the World Cup rather than Bobby Moore had it not been for the Munich disaster. Fate is certainly cruel. May all those who died rest in peace.
  6. Paul Dalglish? That's the main one I don't get. He always looked s**** to me...
  7. Will do mate - cheers!

  9. Thing is though - at the moment he is too ambitious with his passing, which is why (I agree) he gives it away too often. He has only just turned 21 though, which is very raw indeed - fingers crossed he'll learn to play within his limitations in time, and so become a player of similar impact as those I've mentioned above.

  11. That really is good - I'll have to make a point of catching his articles in future...
  12. See what the people here criticising are failing to understand is that a player of his type doesn't need to be able to pass the ball like Alonso. He is a pressuriser, an annoyer, a spoiler who does a tremendous amount of running and stops the opposition from playing. Every great team needs one of those, and look around the world game you'll see all the top teams have one. I lost count of the number of times a Chelsea player would get the ball and be instantly pressed by Sissoko on Sunday - that really does go unappreciated a lot of the time. Was Viera ever a great passer of the ball? Not in particular; Makalele is tidy but doesn't try anything spectacular - its not his job. Some people expect every player to be able to do everything; unfortunately there's only one Steven Gerrard - everyone else has limitations. As long as Sissoko learns to release the ball early and pass it simply, he'll become a vital member of the Rafalution...

  15. Brilliant - you almost wouldn't believe it...but then again you would. Every Geordie I know goes to every game, and somehow still knows f*ck all about the game of football, its like they are missing a certain part of their brain which understands the game...
  16. They'll keep doing it until it gets clamped down on. Amazing how UEFA continue to allow such an unpleasant way of cheating to go unpunished...
  17. Mr Tyler - I salute you!
  18. Robbie's never been any great worker, but the way I look at it, at least he's got the talent to be a bit lazy and pull it off. Cisse on the other hand, should be in the Olympics, not on a football pitch...
  19. I think its actually even more frustrating that we look such a good side, but we haven't got a decent bloody striker, than if we were all-out crap!
  20. Absolutely - the Ryman League won't know what's hit it...
  21. His passes do have a bumpiness to them even on a flat pitch don't they...
  22. I really don't care how much of a 'bad boy' he is, Anelka would be better even after the amputation of his right leg in than his eventual replacement Diouf, or Cisse. He was absolutely tremendous to watch - his display against Newcastle at home in our 3-0 win was as good an individual performance as I've seen in many a year. He didn't even score either I don't think. I was gutted when we didn't sign him - and so was he. I really don't give a monkey's about his bad attitude, he was a proper footballer, unlike the stream of inadequate strikers we've signed for huge fees in recent years.
  23. On the sidelines for a month with a twisted handbag strap I've heard...
  24. This lad has only just turned 21. If he matures as a footballer, then he could in a few years time be a player genuinely mentioned in the same breath as Viera...
  25. You are Martin Jol and I claim my £5...
