  1. Rumour going round (a good source but outside the club) that LFC have been stung by the criticism and will announce a further release of tickets this week. Someone's head may roll as well.
  2. They also had Crespo who was deadly on the night. There is no doubt we are far better individually yet for some reason I'm less confident than 2 years ago - I think it's because I thought our name was on the trophy then as we had no right to be there, while this time it's set up as their night of revenge to atone for the Miracle in Istanbul.
  3. I'm seriously thinking of going over in the hope of a ticket at a reasonable price (only tout I know wants £700 each). Presumably the ones selling hang around the main square ie like Taksim Square in Istanbul? Can't recall seeing any meself but I was a bit p***d at the time
  4. Alonsos lack of mobility is not a problem for me, he reads the game so much better than anyone we've had for a long time (Mascherano is also a superb reader of the game). He is also the most composed midfielder we've had and doesn't ever seem to rush things and always retains posession. He also never wanders from his position so we retain shape, which rafa is pretty keen on. He is the best long passer of the ball I have ever seen in a red shirt and many would say the best passer in the league, he has every pass in the book, but probably needs to work harder on a killer pass (which he can do anyway). Those who want him gone, or want to replace him for someone else should remember that he revolutionised the way we play from the latter days of Houllier to the beginning of rafa, I dont want us to sacrifice the way we play football for selling xabi, because in effect thats what we'd be doin if we sold him. I think some get complacent of the way he plays and what he does for us in the same way that didi had a lack of mobility and people called for younger, faster more dynamic players, rather than one that sits in his position retains our shape and does the simple things well (keeping the ball, tackling and supporting play).
  5. There is one other issue. The 12th man. With all these suits taking most of the seats behind the goal, how loud is our support likely to be compared to say, Istanbul, when YNWA at halftime lifted the team?
  6. I'm past the point of moralising about touting. Fact is there are 6 of us (3 STH) who have been to all the homes, been to Cardiff, Dortmund, Istanbul and have now missed out on tickets legally supplied by the club to Athens. So the only option - other than watching it at home, which we're unwilling to contemplate - is to buy on the black market and the only offer I've had so far from a professional tout is £650 per person - with no guarantee of where the seats are in the ground or even if they are not singles. I'm desperate to find another fan with tickets available and have no compunction whatsoever of paying him £150 per ticket, rather the money went to him than some other dubious source. The club have f***ed up big time and helped to create the environment for supporters, who had no intention of going to the game, to profit from a windfall and I'm able & willing to accept that and hand over my money. 7. Do you think that rafa will target those three in the summer? I find it hard to beleive that he'll buy two more strikers this summer which would have us with 5 (Kuyt, Crouch Bellamy, Tevez, Eto'o), so one would have to make way. Theres nothing more that would please me than having those three on board. Cost a bit like but genius the three of them.
  8. Its a disgrace, i cant f*cking believe it. I know 6 people, some of them family members others not and not one of them has got a ticket. In this ballot thingy I was thinking maybe I had a 1 in 2 chance, maybe a 1 in 3 of getting a ticket, and even then a family member might get one, but not one, it stinks, it really does.... I dont want to go spouting that Im a bigger fan than some on here, I support the club when I have the finances to do so, so all in all I go all the home matches whether they be sc***horpe in the first round of the carling cup, to champions league semi finals against chelsea, I've been a season ticket holder with my 2 sons for more than a decade (more than some, less than others) and when I can go to away matches around the country. I just dont see why any loyalty is given to people like me and others on this site that have season tickets for longer and try to get to the games when they can which is an awful lot. Now Im going to still try to get myself to athens, but what are my chances now, an expensive flight, accomodation there is probably booked out by the club and even then I dont have a ticket so Im going to have to try a tout. Absolutely gutted.
  9. Never been so f***d off before. 1 in 7 or 8 chance? It doesn't stack up. And with so many genuine fans missing out, this surely means the black market prices will be skyhigh as we all compete for spares
  10. 3 ST & 3FC'S AND NOT 1 F**** TICKET
  11. The 1st priority is to re-sign our top players on new contracts. If anyone doesn't (Xabi for example) it will affect our buying policy. I'm sure we will have made a few offers already on Rafa's top targets
  12. If you have your password you just go to "tickets" and then the online sales page and put your fancard number & password in. If you don't have your password (like Me) you will have to contact the club by phone. Someone is saying on RAWK that they will have a special page up tomorrow on .tv and all you need to do is insert your fancard number and it will tell you if you have been successful in the ballot. Cue online crash from 8am tomorrow
  13. Pretty sure our captain will play in the last game of the season, at Anfield with the fans giving them a big send off before Athens. Gerrard for Alonso in that side I reckon (and maybe Sissoko for Mascerano) but don't rule out Rafa using the game as a warm up for the final with his full starting XI.
  14. I'm waiting for a tout I know who says he can guarantee me 4 tickets (2 together x 2). He hasn't given me a price yet but indicated it would be 600-700 quid EACH. There are 6 in our party all qualifying for the ballot (3 STH & 3 FCH) so will wait till the results before committing. I paid 300 quid each for 2 tickets to Istanbul and got them from a poster on here the Monday before the game!!
  15. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...070506-1529.htm Still think they should have prioritised STH's but UEFA take the biscuit. I'm going come what may like thousands of others so the touts will make a mint out of this.
  16. So will they put all those who have been to 6 into a ballot then inform them - or do we all have to submit an application (3-4 hours pressing redial &/or reclick online or queue from 5am) and then wait until the result of the ballot? With flights, hotels etc to organise this is a friggin nightmare.
  17. Alves was sensational, he was going past players as if they weren't there, kept the ball, has an amazing cross on him and a killer ball that the worlds best players would be happy with. Also has superb stamina and speed. Please god (rafa as well) get that guy signed up. Seville play some delightful football don't they though, keeping the ball, speed all round the park and a willingness to attack all the time.
  18. I think your doing smicer a bit of a dis-service seeings as though he played a big part in us last winning the European Cup.
  19. The official club allocation is only 17,000 I think so it's only shareholders and season ticket holders who have been to all the homes and 1 or more aways who will be guaranteed tickets. Probably means a ballot for all season ticket holders who have been to all the home games. The unlucky ones plus all fancard holders (despite having been to all the homes) will have to go black market and if ManU get through, the prices will be astronomical.
  20. Could so easily go like Benfica last year. Think we will lose 2-1 Something special will have to happen to win this - a Riise thunderbolt or a Crouch masterclass in finishing
  21. Agree with all that except gonzalez clearly has talent but maybe is trying too hard and rushing everything. Still think we should persevere with him, he is young and we should judge him after his 2nd season. I pray Rafa persuades Sami to stay 1 more year. He is still so reliable, a true professional and a great man to have in the squad.
  22. And here's another one!!! By Kent Hedlundh - Created on 24 Apr 2007 Related links Team Pages: Liverpool Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing Helsingborgs starlet Alexander Kacaniklic. The 15-year-old impressed during a 12-day trial at Anfield in February and returned to the club for another visit earlier this month. "It was really fun," he told Helsingborgs Dagblad. "The first training session was a bit nervy, but afterwards it went very well. "The coaches felt that it went very well and I came around on the wing all the time. "I believe in myself and I have always dreamt about becoming a professional. "It's at this age that you develop the most and the conditions are much better at Liverpool than at Helsingborgs." http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...to+sign+starlet
  23. People are being way too negative about the prospects of this batch of kids. For years we were hopeless in the youth cup and if you analyse the teams to have won it over the last decade, there is a good percentage who have gone on to professional careers. Even if they don't all quite make it at Anfield, our Academy can be self-financing if a few of the lads go for £2-3 or £4 million (didn't someone say Guthrie's price is £3m?). The club will be offering terms soon to those who will move to Melwood. Spearing, Lindfield, Threlfall, Darby,Roberts, Flynn are already under professional contracts I think but Ryan, Barnett & Putterill will surely follow them with Ajdarevic, Hansen & Parsonage a year younger but all highly rated. Together with last year's heroes still on the books : Hammill, Peltier, Anderson, Roque, Hobbs, Antwi, Idrizaj and the new lads brought in by Rafa like Duran, Insua, Huth, Padelli etc you have to say that our youth system is in great shape and I'm certain a fair few of these will make the grade.
  24. my first thoughts were we are out (partly because there is an inevitability about a Chelsea v Manu final) cos a 1-0 is a bad result but I'm not having this effin sh*te that they p*ssed all over us and we are lucky we are not 3 down. What a load of b******s we conceded on a break away and their only tactic was long balls to Drogba yet the Sky w*****s tried to claim it was us hoofing the ball. Rant over, if you are going to win the big one there has to be at least one incredible off-the-wall result on the way. Manu v Juventus away, Liverpool v Olympiakos & AC Milan. It's still unlikely but IF we can produce a result next Tuesday (3-1 anyone?) we will have our name on the trophy again.
  25. Now saying on line sales sold out, for f***s sake, 2 and a half b****** hours and nothing but that bitch from BT. If I never hear her sodding voice
