That looks frightening to me. Basically Virg 2 totally inexperienced kids and a broken fella. At some stage Virg won’t be playing 60 games without injury so a proper world class CB need to be added to that.

If I'm being honest, I know I'll end up watching it, at least at some stage and being slightly annoyed that I do as it feels like an endorsement of w***ers but it's hard not too, as we enjoy the game right.

Agreed. But we have seen him there from time to time. It’s different and he’s done well. If he goes he goes but I just want the manager to not have the tools he needs. Also after a year wasted Elliot probably just wants to play every week now. It’s what last season was meant to be about so he’ll probably go anyways.

Germany? Return to Italy?

Also a backup to whoever plays Mos position especially if we’re playing 3 games a week. Not many players can do what Mo did every week without fatigue or injury season in season out.

That’s a very good point. I guess he has to talk to the players and see what they want to do but I can’t imagine you’d want to let players like Jones walk away just now when you need more in than out. It’s really weird right? No speculation or anything. No rumours. Very very strange when you consider where he was the end of last season to now. Never seen it before, both the contract being cut and then zero chat about what’s next.

Where is Mo going? The shortening of his contract and no news of where he’s going is really odd to me.

Forwards is the top priority and loads of them. Then sort out the numbers in defence and a quality replacement for Konate. Both of these things make the midfield better already I think. We could bring in 6 or 7 players easily before touching the midfield and i just don't see us doing those numbers at all. The one major positive is we have the "superstars" already so players that are good off the ball and are willing runners for the team might be easier to get? Players like, or similar level to John McGinn would actually improve the others around them I think. Or would that be underwhelming to people? I just don't see the fight in this team right now. Maybe it's Slot and the setup but a Bowen and McGinn or Joelinton types would be useful in my eyes.

We could stock pile 10 broken Chiesa's with that fee!" HERE WE GO!" Got to be a PSG midfielder no? Neves or Vitinha?

This world cup in the states, with Trump and Infantino and their complete dismissal of over 300 footballers being slaughtered makes me not want to engage at all. Just feels wrong.

What have we got right now? Rio, Gakpo, Isak? (Ekitike out for the year) We could keep Gakpo and still buy 4. Look at the drop off. It's insane : 2020/21 Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané, Diogo Jota, Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino, Xherdan Shaqiri 2021/22 Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Luis Díaz, Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino Darwin on a free to run around like a pressing monster for a year until Ekitike is fit?

It's crazy how much work we could potentially need doing. It's why I'm unsure of selling players like Jones OR Gakpo right now. Need at least a Konate replacement, A RB replacement, A Ekitike replacement, A left and right winger forward to replace both Mo and Diaz. Worried that Dom is going to try and see out his contract too. If it gets to next summer we'll be in trouble, but I just can't see us being able to force him to sign an extension now or being in a position to sell him now before he becomes yet another Liverpool player to walk on a free to Madrid.

He would have been perfect for us as he can play right across the front which is exactly what we need right now. Bare minimum we need 3 forwards/wingers. I'd get Bowen in too to cover the No 9 while Ekitike is out as well as RW

Time for Hughes can step up now and do his.

Heard that he doesn't have much of a backroom team. He's an interesting appointment. He's never ever worked at this level so he's going to need loads of support (like an actual full squad) to do the thing we've hired him to do. If it starts well hopefully he can build momentum and grow into it. Very exciting for him and daunting too i imagine.
