Did Slot take the role of first team coach so literally that he just managed the first team as he wasn’t club manager? Seems that’s the way it is in Holland. All seems really amateur. Unless someone mentioned it to him at some point and he told them to f*** off If he had no involvement why was he allowed to bin loads of them off?

If Dom ends up on the bench then we’ve signed about 15 players and I’ll be fine with this. But looking at where the team is right now he’s honestly the least of the squads issues. The drop off from an injury prone Ali is an issue. Needing about 3 CBs is an issue. Needing a world class RB is an issue Replacing Mo is an issue. Replacing Diaz is an issue Getting a brilliant Ekitike replacement is an issue and someone to cover for the broken Isak too. Figuring out if Macca is finished or just in the longest funk ever is an issue. I saw an image of Traore in a Barca top with his huge muscles and forgot that it actually happened. Nunez rocking up there would be similar. I’d take him back for a season long lone until we know what’s happening to Ekitike. He’s free and likes running. He might inspire the current lads that running in football matches helps.

It’s absolutely f***ing crazy how much work we are leaving ourselves to do in a world cup summer. We might need at least 2 CBs if not 3. We were short last season and now Konate is off too and who knows how Leoni returns. It could be 8-9 players in and thats not touching the midfield. He didn’t even get a proper goodbye. This club is all over the place right now.

How is he free? How odd. Did he sign a really short term contract and both parties were happy to run it out? Same for Mo. I’d love to know what’s going on. Wouldn’t surprise me if he rocked up in August ready for one more season while Ekitike is on the mend.

Wirtz has just got to work out. He’s too good not too and I imagine the new manager will make him a priority now that Mo isn’t here to assist everyone. Isak I just don’t understand. Only really watched him v us where he looked a different player. He looks skinny and weak and slow and passive. About as far from a hungry no 9 as I’d imagined.

It’s a hard one to call but I think the club really really backed Slot and wanted it to work and why wouldn’t you. It’s a pain in the a*** changing manager. If Isak and Ekitike had a positive run at the end and it coincided with wins and something that looked like a game plan then I think it would have maybe been enough for them to tentatively back him again. But weirdly the way he sat off to the side after the final game probably did him more damage actually. I think he was trying to be polite and not muddy Mo and Robbos finale but it just looked so fractured and telling.

They could play around us from the back because we didn’t press them. It’s honestly as simple as that. Time to pick clever passes out. 3 prime Gattuso's in our midfield get played through. Add Bobby Mane and Mo and this midfield doesn’t not get walked through. Can our midfield be better? Yes. But if we’ve got loads to do I’d start either the major fires. Of course I could be totally wrong on it being the forward line but if you’ve no time on the ball as a defender you can’t make killer passes you just hoof it.

100% this. Before tearing up the midfield I’d fix the front line and defence first.

Dom in the middle rather than RB helps. But I can’t help feel the midfield being crap all starts with having no pressers up front. This is the midfield that won the league. The profound change is losing all the aggression up front in Jota Darwin and Diaz.

I get that. But I think a wobbly first season after Klopp followed by winning the league has the right trajectory at least. But as it was it just slowly declined from about feb last year and continued so there was no option. We just slowly bled out.

I get that but I think the forward line and back line are the most pressing concerns. Then midfield. We played so many games without the number of forwards or defenders needed to start a game.

Who were the players he refused to play over and over in must win games when the first team were stumbling? I can’t remember a single game that I thought “ those 4 on the bench are the game changers we should be starting” Robbo and Frimpong ( which is mental) were the experienced players we used most. We had the numbers on paper maybe but we started the season short of quality at the back and up top and once we had a few injuries it all came crashing down. This isn’t my opinion. It’s the clubs too as if it wasn’t we wouldn’t have been in for Guehi in the summer.

Yep. It’s a terrible injury. Back in 2027 but then rehab I guess. I see next season similar to Isak this season. Hopefully we don’t leave a giant hole in the team waiting for him.

I will be mind blown if we are not glaringly short at the back and up front come September. But the new manager lost his entire back for last season and turned it around so….
