That would at least make some sense. He's acted like he's pissed off with it all for sometime now. Not sulking but that he's been told it's done regardless of there being loads of injuring which he'd say has been an issue and it has of course. But it would explain the kinda nonchalance we've felt. Almost a care taker vibe till the season is over. Probably reading too much into it really.

There has always been 3 of them in this. It's been my gripe for ages. Slot getting fired exposes them and Slot remaining for now can be painted as "we've got a long term plan trust us we are smarter than you" Maybe that'll prove correct but i just don't see it as we should have heard from Slot about whatever vision he has for next year already and how we're going to turn things around. Something to get excited about. But he's said nothing and it's very weird.

It's exactly the Rodgers playbook. A summer with a world cup seems longer too. So I'm guessing they are thinking people will have forgotten how lame it's all been. Problem is he won't be starting from zero like a new manager. He's in the minus without goodwill and unless it looks significantly different from the first game then I don't see people being very patient. I think the final day behaviour was damaging too. I understand why he took a back seat to it all and appreciate he didn't want to muddy the send off of Mo and Robbo but I think it sent a message to the players left that he knows it's broken.

There was an interview with Wirtz after he scored 2 for Germany a while back where he alluded to the set up being more simple for Germany when asked how his performances for Germany differ so much. He didn’t go into details obviously but it sounded like a soft dig. He’s clearly a super talented player. He’s no smaller than loads of players that do fine in the league so there is something in the set up that’s hampering him. Coutinho was able to shine from either left of the midfield 3 or left of the 3 forwards so I can’t see how someone as good as Wirtz can’t either. With Mo gone he’s going to be the creative fulcrum of the team now so it needs fixing.

Here’s a prediction. We’ll make a balls of the summer transfers as it’s a World Cup year and we won’t do the business we desperately need doing. We’ll go into the season chronically short up top. No Mo replacement. Ekitike still out. Chiesa gone. Just Rio the kid, Gakpo and Isak at 50% We’ll stumble through the first few games and by the first international break about 10-12 games in Slot will be gone and Gerrard will step in and we’ll be glad he’s stepping in even though a year ago most wouldn’t want it.

Looking at images from yesterday it all just looks so weird today. If you can’t even celebrate with your team it’s going to be harder to work with them.
