He’s also incredibly young so what you say to the world at 19 might not be how you feel at 25. In the last 5 years his world has changed absolutely massively. Weirdly I’m not that fussed about him going. I’ve found the experiments to make him happy quite annoying and disruptive and found the simplicity of seeing someone like Bradley quite refreshing to be honest. He’s a brilliant passer of the ball. No doubt about it and will be a huge creative loss to the team. But he’s got a bit of an attitude and he wants to be Beckham at RB for Madrid so fair enough. Gutted he’s going on a free though.

Klopp doing an advert for a beer or cigars or a mobile phone is very different to what Trent is doing. I know you can see this. Either way it doesn’t really matter but you can see how it would piss people off surely.

Agreed. Bringing Elliot into it is odd too. Poor fella is a massive life long fan and is currently living every fans dream. No idea if he’s here long term or not but she’s being really clumsy bringing him into this conversation.

I started to gloss over his defensive frailties and enjoy the 60 yard cross field sweeping balls more and even shrugged when he'd play a lazy pass back into the middle of the park to the opposition so casually. This is the thing. Liverpool have been (it seems )really respectful so far in all of this. He hasn't even joined Madrid and they are playing him like I guess they play everyone. They are also making it difficult for him to change his mind by coming out with what they have. Basically nudging him along.

It's a massive puzzle to solve for Slot and I think we're about to see how good he is at building his own squad. This season he's managed someone else's legacy brilliantly.

We'll be different. Same as always. We've had failed tries at trying to find a solution to what Trent is, where he can play and what makes him happy. I think Slot is more a pragmatic guy. He might like the simplicity of a great attacking full back in Bradley (or someone else) who's primary goal is to defend brilliantly. The creative aspect can come from the 6 players ahead of him with him joining in. I never thought we'd better Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge and Coutinho but Bobby Mo and Mane certainly did a fine job making me realise that things can be as good but it'll be different.

It's more similar to us pinching Shearer in his pomp for free after he went quiet for a season saying nothing. It's fine t be pissed off about it.
