  2. I'll give you a helping hand Huyton. According to lfchistory.net............... Gerard Houllier bought 40 players for £125,400,000 Gerard Houllier sold 48 players for £60,675,000 Net Spending = £64,725,000 Mr Hodgson's analysis was spot on. Suprised me as well, but £11million per season brought 4 major trophies.
  3. Everton v Liverpool Bobby Graham, think he rounded the goalie and put the ball in the net from a very narrow angle
  4. Well thats a very good reason to keep them. If not we could always go back to deciding a game on a toss of a coin.
  5. I wouldn't change anything, why change it? Penalty shoot outs bring drama and a nervousness that is unique in any sport. Imagine/Recall the feeling you experienced when: a) Westerveld saved from Johnson (League Cup Final 2001) b) Alan Kennedy scored against Roma (European Cup Final 1984) c) Dudek saved from Schevchenko (European Cup Final 2005) d) Reina saved from Ferdinand (FA Cup Final 2006) Everyone of these iconic moments in Liverpool's history would never of happened if the penalty shoot out was replaced. Don't mess around with it, leave it, the agony and ecstacy of winning or losing a game on penalties is what makes it so special.
  6. I think during the parade there were around 300,000 people around St George's Hall, with an estimated 750,000 people lining the streets along the parade route. That makes the total easily over a million.
  7. Pens it is........Italy are favourites surely.
  8. Stupidity from Zidane. Deserved to go, what was he thinking?
  9. Italy hit the crossbar from another corner!!! The French are looking very weak from set pieces.
  10. Italy equalise, Materazzi, header from a corner. 1-1
  11. World Cup on the whole has been spoilt by divers.
  12. Agree but Materazzi did pull away and then Malouda fell over thin air, there wasn't any contact at all.
  13. Have to say, shocking dive there by the French player. Again another instance of diving in the world cup.

  16. I agree that most footballers will "dive" now and then but Ronaldo has been consistently doing it both for the mancs and for his country. Its not to highlight England's excuse in going out, the reasons for that have been debated on here for the past few weeks and it was quite obvious the manager was to blame, end of story. I think what most people are emphasising with Ronaldo is that despite the stick and the reputation he has given himself for both the mancs and for his country is that he continues to dive. It seems to me he will go to any lengths to cheat in every game. OK we know Gerrard has dived recently and I certainly hope he cuts it out but Ronaldo like I said, has been consistently diving week in, week out. What he has been doing in this tournament has confirmed to many fans around the country that his diving at the mancs isn't a one off, unfortunately its a mentality he has himself and it continues while he plays for his country. I think the best term to describe him is a "serial diver". Which is a shame really because the lad is obviously talented. If he cut out that part of his game I think he would be a much better player than the one we see today. The feeling for Ronaldo and his antics hasn't just stopped there, we've now had German and Italian fans booing his every touch of the ball? Why? Are they booing him because of what happened with Rooney? I don't think so, why would Italian and German fans care about England and the English players? In some respects I am glad he is going to La Liga, the league suits a player like him, its an ideal environment where diving isn't frowned upon as much and players go down and get free kicks under the minimal of contact compared to the Premiership.
  17. Erikkson is clueless, Lampard should of been taken off ages ago. Gerrard has been covering Lampards backside throughout this tournament.
  18. Hargreaves has started well, made two good tackles on Figo but unfortunately the ref is falling for Figo's theatrics.
  19. Fat Frank has had a terrible start, giving the ball away constantly.
  20. Agree with all of that, it came clear tonight that Gerrard and Lampard cannot play together unless England play one up top. Hargreaves had a good game and complimented Fat Frank really well. Lampard though was s**** and kept having a pop on goal at first sight.
  21. Beckham should of been dropped and the captaincy taken off him a long time ago. Not going to happen now, if McClaren has his way looks like Beckham will continue to be captain. David Beckham was never captain material and still isn't now.
  22. Crouchy saves Erikkson's a***......
  23. Exactly, it is criminal, that a manager, with the talent he has at his disposal throughout the whole team. Sets up his team to play s**** football and as a consequence we have to rely on one player, where infact this shouldn't be the case.
  24. LOL! So has every other England player! If thats the case then none of the starting eleven would be playing by your logic. People should stop looking to pick on individual players to blame for England's lacklustre performances. Football is a team game and quite frankly the whole team has been s****. The person who is responsible for picking the team and the tactics is the manager. If England don't win this game, I feel certain players will get the stick but in fact all the blame should be put on the manager. That is Erikkson's problem, he plays a system such that he relies on Individual brilliance to win a game. You can't keep doing that, England don't play as a unit, their attacking play throughout has been awful. England certainly defend as a team but they don't attack as a team, they attack relying on individual players.
