Aye and that's a huge concern. It tells me the players were are choosing are not working for the system we have in place. It's either change the system to fit the players at our disposal or pick the players for the system. I think Arne is caught between those two things.

Galatasaray vs Liverpool - Champions League, 30th September @ 8pm
Jim D replied to ynwa.tv 's topic in Liverpool FC
I actually don't agree with what Arne said here, this had nothing to do with fine/small margins. If we're relying on small margins in the majority of games for the rest of the season then we're not retaining our title. It was another mediocre performance, we've played nine games this season and we've not had a decent ninety minutes in any of them. For a team who are defending their title that's a concern. -
For reference, PSG only got 13 points from 8 group games last season and went on to win the bloody thing. After Christmas they were outstanding. So this defeat is not a concern but the performance from our players was.

Yeah I'm thinking, did we go over there to take it easy or did we actually play crap? Like one defeat here is not terrible in the grand scheme of things as PSG showed last season in the group stage but at the same time it doesn't exactly fill you with confidence going forward. -
Let's be honest, the team is unbalanced at the moment, it's not working, if that means Wirtz has to have a few games on the bench to sort it out then so be it.
-
About Wirtz, what we're doing with him is just not working at the moment. Going forward we look like a bunch of individuals and there doesn't appear to be any connection or fluidity. We're struggling to break down packed defences and play is too one paced. Yes control is important but our play is too predictable.
-
Hahaha true but it doesn't dismiss the rank performance we put in again. Play like that against Chelsea on the weekend and we'll get nothing. It's probably the first time since Arne has been here I'm showing some concern and questioning his decision making. The Plymouth game was a second string side but tonight's result is the worst of his time here.
-
Aye, those first five games papered over a lot of cracks. We look a shadow of the team last season. We're disjointed, world class players making elementary mistakes, not on the same wavelength and the team looks unbalanced. Integrating a lot of new players into this team at the moment is having a detrimental effect. Whatever Arne's intentions were it is clearly not working. But if you're doing the necessary work on the training pitch, we shouldn't be this bad, right? Losing to a team who've not won at home in the Champions League in seven years should be setting off alarm bells.

If this result holds, it's the worst of Arne's reign. -

Not a good weekend for us. Arsenal gain two points with a last minute winner and we lost one conceding a last minute goal. Three point swing in their favor. They've now negated the Anfield defeat. Plenty of swings and roundabouts to come I'm sure. Though Arsenal relying on set pieces to get them over the line. -
Yep, any new players that came in were given a period time to bed in and get up to speed. We've throw in Wirtz at the deep end and the pressure has slowly started to increase on him. I think we should bench him, the lad clearly needs more time to adapt to the English league.

Match Topic Crystal Palace vs Liverpool - Premier League, 27th September @ 3pm
Jim D replied to ynwa.tv 's topic in Liverpool FC
Let's be honest that's been coming, we've shown no signs of improving in our performances. The balance of the team doesn't look quite right and we can't just rely on clutch moments bailing us out. Can't quite put my finger on it but I believe Wirtz as much of a talent he is, is taking a while to adapt to the premier league. Overall he has struggled and perhaps it's time to go back to what worked for us last season and bench him until he had adapted his game. Mo has looked a shadow of the player he was last season, whether that's down to a drop in individual performance or his teammates around him it's hard to tell. All I know is we cannot keep having performances like this otherwise we will not defend our title. Something needs to change and quick. -
It's not, just got caught up in the heat of the moment. It was stupid knowing this rule about taking your shirt off after scoring has been around for years.

So bizarre from Moyes, if there is one trophy Everton could win this season it was this one. Why put out a weakened team when you know you're are pretty much safe from relegation? For a team who has not won a trophy since 1995 why not take this competition seriously? I don't get it, Newcastle broke their duck last season, just so little ambition from the club. Their fans must be going stir crazy tonight.

Typical Arteta, you've just equalised with 4-5 mins to go and celebrate like you've just scored the winner. Instead you should be grabbing the ball out of the net and placing it on the centre circle to get play started again and going for a winner. He then proceeds to bring on a defender for a midfielder to shore up the back line. He's too negative, he doesn't have the mentality of a winner. He's relying on the fine margins in every game to fall Arsenal's way. He starts with two defensive midfielders week in, week out and is totally reliant on corner kicks and long throws to make something happen. That was a class finish by Martinelli but if Donnaruma stays on his line there it's likely his team would've come away with nothing. -

Yeah just increased the pressure on his backline. Haaland would've at least provided an outlet and occupied Arsenal defenders. Though huge mistake by Donnaruma coming off his line. -

Chiesa, Wirtz, Isak, Frimpong, Gomez all need to start. They need minutes, Wirtz needs to have a good game all be it against lower league opposition. -

What a weird game, two sending offs, a marginal offside goal, Chelsea manager waving the white flag after the first red card. 10 v 10 ten now, and the second half has now just become a little more interesting. -

Weird subs by Maresca, used all three already. He's lost his head here, if a player gets injured they'll be down to nine men. Crazy subs.
