I think Rafa has given Masch a little gentle boot up the @rse by revealing what he has - (ie he was disappointed that he couldn't go) . Masch know now the fans will be watching him even closer so expect him to really step up and be even more determined than normal (if that's possible) I have no worries about him this season.

Never knew Reina played that day for Barca! Might be a bit of a sneaky question to ask the boys over a few pints.
-
Yeah agree with that Reina first without a doubt Friedel is a good keeper but can't remember enough of him when he was here. Kirkland - did he play enough?
-
Grand stuff - I didn't imagine it so!
-
I seem to remember him doing an air shot against Barca in the semi final of the UEFA cup! I have to say I don't remember people saying he was that s*** when he was actually at Liverpool on Koptalk or talking to fans - from what I remember the general consensus was he was OK but not top class. I wonder if Carra had written in his book that he was a top bloke and he loved him to bits would this thread have read differently

If Perez took us over, wanted to spend €250m on the team and started pushing his weight round in the transfer market by buying world class players would any of us object? No fuvkling chance!!

So what part of London do you live in?

I remember watching John Inverdale doing Onside. He had Johan Cruyff on and during the interview produced a football for Cruyff to do a few solos! i couldn't believe it - the man is generally regarded as one of the top 4/5 footballers of all time I think we know he can do a few keepy uppys. Inverdale's a c***! -
8mill is alot considering how fragile his confidence is......... I'll get my coat.
-
So they can market it as something stupid like "Super CL Final Saturday"........... It was announced a couple of months ago though

Mutu - has to pay fine to Chelsea

It sets a precedent for big money players. In theory if Ronaldo breached his contract at Real after a few months they could than order him to pay them a mere €75 million?! -
A Dutch lad that I used to work with was saying he was very surprised when Huntelaar went to Real - he said he is a decent player but struggles at a higher level / in the big matches.....haven't seen to much of him myself so don't know. Can't believe he's on 155K per week though!!

around 1.23 Toure say money city or something like that and then corrects himself!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ-hgptrUaU

When did we offer him a new contract? I'm p!ssed off that the Spanish fb (he's a better player than Ramos) leaves the club for 3.5 mill. If we had extended his deal / offered him an improved contract last year we would be in a far better bargaining position now. The risk would have been minimal to the club because a)he's a good player to have in your squad and b) we would have been able to sell him if he wanted to go back to Spain......... Although its not all bad news when selling fulll backs. Portsmouth can get 19 mill for one, Udinese can get 7 mill and Sevilla can get €27mill!!

The truth of the matter is we don't need Villa. We have the best front two in the world now so there is no way we are going to spend that kind of money on a player that won't be starting. Plus he wouldn't come here anyway. Silva would be a great addition to the left side - I notice on wiki it says he;s in talk with the mancs. Don't know too much about Aquilani I have to confess. Pirlo was keeping him out of the Italian side over the last few years.
-
don't worry the other two lads aren't that bright - the rest of us know what you mean. I'm pretty much for it the only negative can be if you are unlucky enough to get alot of injuries in one position toy can be screwed. for example at the mo if Nando and Kuyt were out we're fuvked. The other really annoying thing is the SLy Sports 24 hour countdown thing - talk about over hyped even for them.
-
Too late - Phil Brown did that yesterday.

As Hassony says you don't really believe that s*** about Tevez?!! Seriously he leaves the Mancs to (will be) join their bitter city rivals but wouldn't go to us 'out of respect' for the Mancs fans - that makes no sense whatsoever!! I also believe that the Mancs didn't really want to keep him and their offer was made simply to save face with their own fans once they knew he was off to city. At least Owen didn't go straight to Everton after he left us

QUOTE(Tommy Cockles @ Jul 6 2009, 12:52) In defence of Owen... You are 29, just relegated, written off at the top level by all and sundry, on the back of a bad spate of injuries. You are being talked about in respect of possible transfers to Stoke & Hull - but only on "their terms" - and mocked for putting out a brochure marketing your skills. You are then offered the opportunity to play at the biggest stadium in the league, guaranteed CL football, guaranteed to be challenging for all of the major honours etc You can't blame him. Reasons for not doing it? Because you are goung to upset a set of fans that you last played for several years ago, and who never really appreciated you anyway. To us, as fans, its betrayal. To him as a player its an opportunity to continue his career at the highest level. As a player why wouldn't you do that? In short fans are fans and players are players. Understand the difference and save yourself a lot of grief. As for the derision I received for suggesting Fowler would have just the same at the same stage of his career earlier in this thread, one word sums that up. NAIVE. I didn't blame him for Madrid, he had carried us for years and deserved his chance to try something new. Seeing him in that Manc kit though makes me completely nauseous & lets hope its a complete disaster. That sums up my thoughts on this. Yeah agree with this makes sense

Don't they have previous from when they were both in Spain? A mate of mine suggests they are close from when he managed Extramedura and he used to send rafa tapes of games etc.
-
Remember when Hoddle said Owen wasn't a natural finisher - cue the howls of derision from Liverpool supporters I wonder how many would say ye know the c**t was right
