Each to their own I guess, but some of these people must have plenty of money to throw away.

We live in North County Dublin, about 2 estates over from a ("working class", for want of a better term) estate down the road from where we live, one house has plonked an Irish tricolour on a flagpole in their back garden, the other house has done the same, with 3 separate Irish flags flying on flagpoles, visible over their back wall, visible on the road to the train station. Every time we pass them, I complain about them to my wife, who just says "yeah, you're annoyed, we get it", because in fairness, I do get annoyed with "stuff" on occasion. We were at an event yesterday with my sister and her daughter and drove them back to ours afterwards, and my sister said "what's with the Irish flags there?" and I just said what I think - they're basically "Ireland for the Irish" (i.e. we don't want no foreigners) and my sister was aghast that people are like this in Ireland. She must have been living under a rock because this open racism has definitely gotten more "in your face" over here, unfortunately. As Hassony alludes to, I reckon people have definitely felt emboldened to show their true colours, particularly since Trump got elected again.

Indeed, fair enough. One of my mates posts match updates on FB every time one of our matches is on and he posts 1-0 without mentioning the team that scored. I then copped that if it was Liverpool that scored, he mentions the scorer as well. Still bugs me that he posts 1-0, even if LFC are at home, and the other team scored. Keep meaning to say it to him at some stage.
