Considering they started the season earlier than most, it's strange they've started so cold in the league. Don't look like the same team. Really don't see how Shelvey fits there, either.

1) Have we played a higher line? Not been to any games this season but I think there's a distinction to defending higher and a higher line. 2) I really think fitness/physicality plays a big role in what Rodgers wants to do. He hasn't quite got it right yet but I think he wants to play in waves. His ideal, to me, seems to be: be Bielsa for 25-30 then Spain for 25 -30 then see where the game is. EDIT: Defo need more tactical fouls.

Thing with Comolli is if you keep throwing money around consistently you are going to hit on some good signings. He was either very wrong or very right and when he was very right it occasionally happened with a large price tag, same with being very wrong. I mean a guy who spends near £90m on Darren Bent, Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and David Bentley isn't exactly great, like.

Aye, he mentioned it at the event in Liverpool for the Blizzard. Sounds interesting.

To be fair it was hit and miss under Kenny and s**** when we tried it last year. It's just a hard thing to get right, especially here. People can go on about Barcelona and teams that mutate from 3 to 4 at the back but it's a different league, for as s**** a thing to say that is...is.

Haha! You're putting words in our Brendan's mouth there but we've been down this road. I'm all for sexy lads, don't worry. Early days, different players etc. He's done well, he gives us something we lack when playing Coutinho and Sturridge: a narky c***. I actually thought he was pretty integral to how we made United s**** themselves at times in the first 45. I'd sign him every time, I like him and think that he will never score 20-25 goals and have a market value above £15m or whatever but I think he's a really good player at a good price. I'm all for sensible moves. As I've said, don't think it was ever Alberto & Aspas OR a sexy lad, I think the sexy lad just didn't happen.

DH is doing what I do with players. I had Chad and Shelvey. He has Aspas. Henderson has played in the front four for the last six months, effectively. We've plenty of options he's just annoyed we don't have a new sexy lad. I still think he'll warm to Luis Alberto.

Pretty sure Rodgers said from the outset that Allen was a player who played higher up. Lucas stays in the team because Lucas is very good at football, fundamentally. Think Rodgers just wants that in his midfield. What he wants from Gerrard. What he likes in Allen. Why he likes Lucas.
