i am trying but getting nowhere fast

Good luck mate! I got our travel dept. to organise me something there for cup final weekend in Feb (I could always cancel it) and they told me there was nowt doing. All offers/concessions etc had been cancelled so we couldn't use our company rates. The Marriot (normally £86 for our group regular use rate) was £220! The Holiday Inn....the Holiday Fecking Inn wanted £125 as opposed to £54 the week prior and after! The nearest I could get was the Hilton in Brigend and that was £92! In the end I sacked it and we're staying with my auntie who lives in Bradford on Avon which has a direct train line to Cardiff.

Look for B&B's on Newport Road or Cathedral road.

Both within walking distance.

I sorted mine months ago. Had a "discussion" with the hotel concerned when last week they wrote to me to me inform me of the price increase as it is now "event" rate. We agreed on the original price, as I am clearly not travelling for the game as I booked it well before the switch from Wembley

:)

Report them to trading standards for trying to up the price.

If that Jon G raises his price of zero for sleeping on his couch he's in trouble.

well if my mates cousin hasn't split from his lass then I'll be staying on a yacht in the harbour :woohoo:

If you need an escort for that sort of place.......

Anny road-

I have a hotel booked in the Future Inn for just the Friday night, couldn't get the Saturday,

My mate has offered me his place to stay at for the weekend so the room is going spare.

Dya want it?

Dont stay there then. I am only staying over for the Friday this year, hopefully I will have a party to go to Saturday night.

Not doing. :D

Couldn't get my usual corporate rate ( although I'm a frequent stayer at that hotel). So, I took my business elsewhere for this game.

( But will miss those comfy beds)

I would suggest that you look in the areas which are off the beaten path.

The B&B's on Cathedral Road are fine, but probably sold out by now.

I little further away from there is a place called Churchill's which is nice and walkable to the stadium.

There is a big row of houses on Penarth Road in Grangetown that was turned in to a hotel which is a dive but is very close to the stadium. It's on the north side of the street in between Clare Road and Clive Street.

You could also try and find a place in Penarth which is a great little town right next to Cardiff and a short taxi ride away.

You could also stay with my Mam and Dad if you want (yeah, right). Actually, that might be interesting. My old man might be the only person in Britain who can drink more than Anny. I'd like to see the challenge. :D

Some ideas here:

Alternatively, try Swansea. It's about an hour from Cardiff on the train and you can avoid the traffic bottlenecks on the M4 in by the tunnels by heading down the A465. Plenty of clubs and pubs for any celebrations - should the need arise! ;)

The dragon is new and is walking distance from the station.

Swansea is pretty good as a base camp for Cardiff.

Good rail links to Cardiff and easier to get accommodation.

As is Newport and its surrounding villages.

We have stayed at the Walkabout in Newport a couple of times.

cheap as chips and another town with decent drinking possibilities!

The Walkabout was already booked up when we rang through on sunday morning.

We're not even gonna try getting into Cardiff. Two nights stopping at our mates in Worcester and cadging a lift in on the Saturday :D

Due to a double booking I've got spare double or twin rooms at the Holiday Inn, Newport. about £110 each.

I was gonna cancel them, but if anyone's interested mail or pm me.

I live in Cariff at the mo :) ..... but dont have a ticket :(

so.... I would gladly offer bed and full english breakfast - saving you over £100- .... in return for a spare ticket...

(yes i know theres no such thin as 'spare' ticket, but if you could get hold of a pair, or 3 tickets.... I only need one!)

You'll end up with Jonesy and his whole family living in your house for 6 months
