Bootle Buck Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I can't really see Morientes or Cisse getting much change out of Chelsea's defense. However, I would love to see Gerrard more advanced and dragging Chelsea's Central defensers out of position. With Sissoko and Alonso anchoring the midfield he could be used on the right to frighten the shet out of Del Horno or just alongside Crouchy looking for the knock back. I just think the midfield is going to be congested enough and Stevie could give us that extra bit of speed needed up front. When we have played Cheslea in the past he has always seemed pretty restrained and hasn't had a license to run at them as much. They don't seem to like teams taking the game to them. Just a thought
Kenny_ Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Gerrard on the right and Garcia just off Crouch for me.
fellafeen Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 formation anyone, reckon its nailed on to be -------------CR-------------SF------JC-------SH-----JAR---------MS------XA------------SG-------LG-------HK-----------------PC--------------
Barnesy_10 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 formation anyone, reckon its nailed on to be -------------CR-------------SF------JC-------SH-----JAR---------MS------XA------------SG-------LG-------HK-----------------PC-------------- Cliff Richard in goal? that will never work...
sutty Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 (edited) He might play Traore and Riise left mid. Kewell off Crouch and Gerrard on the right. I hope he doesn't, mind. Edited April 18, 2006 by sutty
Stevie H Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 formation anyone, reckon its nailed on to be -------------CR-------------SF------JC-------SH-----JAR---------MS------XA------------SG-------LG-------HK-----------------PC-------------- that's what i'd like to see. as long as luis has one of his godlike genius everything-i-hit-goes-in days and not one of his profligate infuriating days.
Benzo-13 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Cliff Richard in goal? that will never work... Me thinks someone was thinking of Claudio Reyna???
McBain Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 We played Gerrard off Crouch at Stamford Bridge and it was a disaster. I'm not saying 2 strikers is the way to go either but I wouldn't play Crouch as a lone striker
sutty Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Me thinks someone was thinking of Claudio Reyna??? Claire Raynor?
Benzo-13 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Claire Raynor? Is she "brown bread"?? Nevertheless she'd make a goal look like an ice-hockey one.

Earl Hafler Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I think we should play Fowler upfront with Sinama-Pongolle. Hello. My name is Charlie Nicholas and i am a f***wit.

Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Something tells me that we might play Cisse on the right and Riise on the left with Gerrard, Momo and Xabi in the centre. I get the feeling that Rafa wont want Terry and Carvalho pressing high up against Crouch as we have no pace. Rather put Riise and Cisse on and make sure they cant come too high up the pitch. Just a feeling I have.........

Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 no. And I would agree with you aswell and think the idea is ludicrous but I have that feeling.
G Richards Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 (edited) ReinaFinnan Carra Sami RiiseMomo XabiStevie Garcia KewellCrouch I don't think Crouch will get much out of Terry/Carvalho, but if Luis is having one of his good days there might just be a few scraps coming down that he can profit from. If he is tricky and can get a couple of passes going, then he might link well with an on-rushing Gerrard or Kewell and we could cause them problems that way. Other than the strikers, I feel we hold our own against Chelsea and it is evenly matched. It may come down to a bit of skill or inspiration, and we certainly have a few players who have that within them. Gutted I'm flying to Spain during the match. Edited April 18, 2006 by G Richards
Puskas Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 I'd go with 3 at the back and wingbacks for this game. I was thinking the same thing. I think we need two out and out strikers on the pitch and we don't want to get outnumbered in midfield so 352 seems the way to go. But only if Agger is fit...
