A new song for Stevie Finnan........very tongue in cheek

Do The Stevie Finnan

We're Liverpool FC,

How do you do?

We've just been down to the Old Toilet.

Saw a Irish man in a cage doin' a dance that could be the rage.

It's not hard, so let's all do

the Stevie Finnan!

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!

Chorus

Do do do the Stevie Finnan (Stevie Finnan?)

We are here to show you how. (ooo ooo ooo) -- gibbon hoots

Ooo Ooo Ooo the Steive Finnan (Stevie Finnan?)

He's just like you,

So, come on, Do

The Stevie Finnan Nowwwww.

Frogs are always howlin',

The Deaf are always Yowlin',

But Finnan only likes to Sing and Dance. (Boop oop shee boop)

You be like that Irishman,

Get a little funky,

And in a while, start to smile,

Finnan have a chance.

(Chorus)

Now get ready to do the Stevie Finnan!

Drop one arm down by your knees, let the other arm reach up to the trees.

Now let your wrists go limp like a bent baboon

And get ready to sing this Finnan tune (ooo ooo ooo, Stevie Finnan)

Now won'tcha gimme an Oooooo (oooooo)

Come on gimme an Oooooo (oooooo)

Give me an Ooooooo (oooooo)

Now put 'em together and what have you got?

ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo ooo (Chorus)

ooo ooo ooo Stevie Finnan

ooo ooo ooo Stevie Finnan

ooo ooo ooo Stevie Finnan

He promised to buy me a bunch of blue Finnansto tie up my bonnie brown...

(alt: Tie a yellow Finnan 'round the old oak tree....)

do do do Stevie Finnan

Stevie Finnan?!! Oooo!

(followed by Finnan hoots)

Nowt rude:

Dear Sir,

Following up on your informative article on 1st March regaring Steve Finnan's alleged racist comments to Patrice Evra of Manchester United: http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1720499,00.html

I was wondering when we could expect an equally prominent follow up to the article explaining that the Greater Manchester Police have dropped all charges?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4779418.stm

I am sure you would not want to be seen as a newspaper that does not give a balanced view of things.

Yours sincerely,

Greater Manchester Police have informed Liverpool they will not be taking any action against Steve Finnan following allegations that he racially abused Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

The incident being investigated followed complaints by lip-readers watching the televised Premiership clash at Old Trafford on January 22. Finnan had just given away a free-kick, which led to Rio Ferdinand's winning goal. Evra did not raise any complaints, although he was aware of the allegations.

The Liverpool defender vehemently denied the accusations and video evidence sanctioned by the Anfield club supported that view and now the police have dropped the case.

A Liverpool spokesman said: "Obviously we welcome the news. Our own analysis of the television footage proved there was no evidence to back up these claims. It's very unfortunate that Steve's good name has been dragged through the mud in the meantime and we are glad this matter has now been resolved."

It's now on their website, pretty much in the same place as the original allegations, so pat yourself on the back: looks like your mail worked.

Nice. it wasn't posted on there until after 2pm though, so they're fibbing a bit on the time.

Maybe I'll forgive them. This once.
