there where a couple moments today, when Agggger and Sami got mixed up a bit (maybe no suprise like!), and Pepe was so quick to deal with it, it's times like that you know how good he is! Even before his excellent save, he was just great, doing the unfussy, understated stuff. Just being a great sweeper keeper.

 

 

I like that! :D

 

Aye, he's quite young too, to be an established goalie. 23 is he? ...and he can only get better.

 

He's rather cute as well, which is always a plus! :lol:

Didnt anyone notice when Man City had a corner near the end of the game, Pepe was going off at the rest of the players telling them to concentrate.

 

I'm watching the game again at the minute, I'll keep an eye out for that.

 

Its his positioning and anticipation that particularly stand out for me. Simply outstanding

Best keeper we've had in 20 years.

 

Only if he puts in another season as good as this one next year.

 

Dudek was outstanding in his first season and should have walked the PFA team but lost out to Given. Next season his problems started. Not saying that Pepe will go the same way but I had my fingers burned a bit by Dudek cos I made similar claims about him!

 

Once bitten and all that! But yes, he's been excellent.

If he would have flapped today, you would have all been on his back and slagging him down just like before, coz he makes a good save or two then hes your hero. We shall wait and see how good Reina is after a season or two, we won 1-0 thanks to him, but we should have killed the game off anyway.

I think the difference between Pepe and Dudeck is that if Pepe makes a mistake it does not affect his confidence. were as when Dudeck makes a mistake his confidence goes to pieces.

 

Also, I think Reina is a pro-active keeper, while Jerzey is/was reactive.

He will have the odd howler here and there which happens to almost every goalie. When Dudek signed he was in his late 20s if i remember correctly so it was probably hard to say how much further he can improve but Pepe is so young and he can only get better. Poor Carson though ;)

DjibrilLFC it's not that he makes a couple good saves and he's the greatest thing we've ever seen, it's his dimeanor... he commands his area very well, has immense confidence and is so strong positionally that when he stops shots it doesn't look too difficult... plus if there's a slip up he's very calm and recovers very well...

 

intense... Pepe is so strong already, i wonder if he progresses how much does he even have to go?

With him and Riquelme, Villareal have had a lot to thank the powers that be at the Camp Nou for...

 

Apparently Fergie wants Riquleme as their big summer signing - great footballer though he is, I actually think he may not be suited to English football.

 

See Veron for central midfielder with great passing range and technical ability, but little pace, looks a world beater on the continent but closed down far more quickly in the English game, doesn't like the weather and fails to settle...

 

Pepe left becuase he was tired of being number two was pushing play more first team football - no win situation - he was benched a lot and used for cup games...

 

The feeling inside Can Barca was that he was an excellent prospect but that Valdez and Nuñez were going to be even better. Barca were strapped for cash.

Have you heard any more than press speculation behind that though?

 

Think he'd be perfect for us actually as the player in the hole in a 4-5-1.

Haven't slagged him off before as i've backed him since the day we signed him. People were wondering why we paid all that for a new keeper in the summer when there were other priorities but Reina was a brilliant signing.

Victor Valdes better than Reina? They f***ed up there all right, Valdes is a clown.

I honestly believe Reina is Rafa's son.. the resemblance is amazing... and quite scarey..
