We played the whole first half with no full backs. Having the piss taken out of us by Luton's wide men.

 

An old cliche - but the early first goal just seemed to confirm to our team that they where in for a walk in the park. And from that moment on they couldn't get into the game at all.

 

But yet again, for the 2nd game running, we show we never know when to stop. It was ironic, cos we where so pathetic first half - but then showed such great heart and commitment 2nd half.

as for Cisse, yes, he is frusttraing, but you could say the same about Crouch because he was absolutly crap today

I gave Crouch and Cisse some slack as the ball was hardly up there with them but agree, not good enough from a large number of the side.

(Save the text!) Thought Xabi battled though first half Steve which was more than Momo did. Crouch was dire throughout and Cisse was wildly inconsistent. That's the worst Carra has played in about five years. Sami got Niall Quinned by their big lad and did look leggy. Finnan was terrific and held it together like nothing on earth.

 

Gerrard was patchy and went missing second half of the first half - their left back was getting far too much time. However he was terrific second half, as were Xabi, Pongolle and the manager.

 

We definitely need a centre half badly.

Good spirit, but none of our players come out with any credit for me bar Sinama - worst I've seen Xabi play for us, despite 2 wonder goals.

 

Great Cup tie though, and fair play to Luton who were magnificent. I can't remember the last time I saw our defence that rattled

Poor 1st half. Average performances by some on the back of great performances (great wake up call)... and we got the result!

Rafa and the team will learn a lot from this.
