You really think he'll walk?

I'm not sure if I can see it myself. I still think he believes he can turn it round.

I'll be honest, I was concerned about the game tonight, I've seen to many Derby games where we don't get anything out of it, but tonight was really odd. I've not seen an Everton side looking so languid and poor against us in... well ever. There's always been a bit of belief there and the desire to kick us all very hard, but tonight it wasn't.

Watching Moyes post match comments tonight, where he said he was pleased with the effort etc, I was just struck with the impression, that the only way he'll leave is if he's sacked.

Moyes is starting to strike me more, and more like Houllier. He did the buisness for you last season, but he has taken you as far as he can and doesn't quite (or isn't willing to) realise that yet. As a result the Everton support seems to be polarising between Pro and Anti Moyes. I think the only way he'll go is if he's sacked.

How bad are Everton? If you take this calendar year in terms of results, in the League they have only amassed 37 points from 38 games (Full season). That is relegation form, makes you wonder whether last season's 4th place finish was a pure fluke (one-off)? Considering they finished 17th under Moyes the previous season.

I think most Everton fans will just be happy that Sunderland, Birmingham City and Portsmouth are in this division!

It says a great deal about a club when people consider Phil Neville to be their best player.

Martyn has been a big reason why they've managed to win games by the odd goal and he's deep into the twilight of his career now.

This seasons relegation battle might go down to the wire with about 7 teams involved.

im not being patronising, but i didnt think the s**** where that bad

ok ,they werent that great either, but we made Newcastle, Wigan, Middlesborugh look far worse

i think if they lose again next game by a few goals, then he should get the boot, but they werent that f***ing bad

Thats the thing though.

We can look at the games against Pompey and Newcastle, and say yes, we outclassed them and they were s***.

Tonight we can say we outplayed them, but the opposition just weren't... anything. That wasn't Everton out there, I don't know who it was, but it wasn't them. I remember Everton at least having a bit of anger about them, but it was just huff and puff and then resignation.

Don't get me wrong, its performances and attitudes like that which will send them down, but it was still a bit of a shock.

Moyes should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Ged :hmm: That is very insulting to GH!

I think I know what yer saying though :D

Anyway, I hope he stays.

That's a good point. He's a good manager, only some poor buys bring that into question. But he does seem... stuck.

I think he believed his own publicity - that he'd done all the hard work, he was next in line for United/Rangers/England. And playing to the Everton fans and trying to cement a legendary status by pissing off Reds with silly comments rather than concentrating on the actual job backs this up. Like Curbishley before him (and Allardyce & Pearce to come) he thinks he's done enough.

Maybe in some respects he has. Curbishley every season talks about the Champions League, the team then panic. He gets ahead of himself - and shows himself up. But he stays in his job because guiding Charlton to a midtable Premiership finish is more than a club of their stature could have dreamed of. If Moyes was at Charlton, West Brom or Portsmouth he'd be a hero. Everton, for the last 20 years and for the foreseeable future, are that type of club.

They'll survive this season. If they go into the last day in a relegation battle and finish 17th I'm sure they'll celebrate. So why not celebrate finishing 9th to 14th next season? It's their natural habitat. But the fans will be demanding CL football because of a brief moment of glory in the 80s. Unrealistic. And because of bitter jealousy of their neighbours. Yes, they finished 4th - and it's not sour grapes saying this - but it's only down to an unbelievable start and the rest of the league (us included) being to crap to challenge. Was it 3 wins since January?

He should step away for his own sake, step down a level to a smaller Prem club or larger Champ side. There his talent can be recognised and appreciated, he'd meet their realistic dreams.

And Howard Kendall should be brought back, just for the laugh.
