arsenal need to beat real madrid in the champs' league to make an interest payment on the new stadium

the gunners also need to win a champs' league spot for next season to keep the stadium payments secure

their debt stands at twice that which leeds had when they went titties-up

i have been saying similar for a while now. i looked at the way the loan was structured at the time and was baffled at the way the board have gambled to structure this. they are actually depending on CL football 14 from 16 seasons. and thats at interest rates that wont be coming down. they are really walking a very fine line

Could you please link to any information stating this?

i dont have any links, i remember reading the financial plans when they first came out. the interest payments alone are astronomical on the loan, it something aroung £15 mil a season. it virtually wipes out all the profit they make, with Champions football. without it, they are well and truely fecked

I remember that and you and I agreeing that they were up poop creek sans paddle. What is it £300m for their ground and all the development - they get an average gate of 39000 and don't, despite having a massive pool to pull fans from, have a massive fan base. Destined to fail.

Yup.

They failed to take into account a fair few very important points and organisations with the design of the stadium- ergo a certain rail company in need of cash has them over the proverbial barrel.

Still- least the kids have a playground where highbury was- nice deal Dein you f*ckwit.

All the flats facing the pitch sold out inside an hour I believe

Many of the othersalso sold by the first day - and they are all damned pricey

Half of them belong to Islington Council- not that it was a dodgy job in any way shape or form. oh no.

double post

Triple post. ;)

I guess that the stadium is one reason as to why Arsenal have developed their youth policy so aggressively.

Arsenal are on the slide, in fact they remind me a lot of the Evans team in terms of great football but no heart, lots of box play and that whilst I also think that there are more egos and problems internally than you could consider. The writing is on the wall and it isn't written in Arabic spelling 'United Emirites' on the stadium nor the cheque.

It's kind of like the Keane factor. Great players surrounded my some mediocrity in key areas, and I don't think they have the hunger or strength of character for the fight.

There was a time that Arsenal would almost walk over teams or you'd be living scared like you used to be against the mancs but that veneer has gone.

If anyone thinks they can fill the 20,000 surplus of seats when they have very little penetration into the markets that Liverpool and the Mancs have then I'd love to see how and why.

Even if they do have the highest attendance in the Prem next year I'd love to see the legacy of the library and the effect on repeat business when their atmosphere is further diluted by another 25% and they have no CL games.

They couldn't fill Wembley if I'm not mistaken?

Depends Scally, they have Pires to replace at the end of the season and maybe Theo can be signed for his wages? Still f***ed down the middle IMO.

Like the mancs they are looking to play so wide that they'll have to strip the first few rows from their stands.

Can't understand it unless next season they are mortgaging their future on building their team and have all these young folk ready to sell for when the s*** hits the fan.

Guest Red Mist

I've seen their stadium from a high rise building virtually right next door to it, it looks stunning, easily the best looking stadium in the country.
