Damian_de Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Acute in this case means sudden onset. Very aggressive, but they react much better to chemotherapy. *fingers crossed* Survival rates for this are pretty good.

My uncle got diagnosed with it 4 years ago and got all clear last year, it does respond well to treatment.

smithdown Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 The Aston Villa captain Stilian Petrov appears to be winning his fight to overcome acute leukaemia after the club confirmed that the midfielder is in remission. The Bulgaria international Petrov has been undergoing regular treatment at a London hospital since the illness was diagnosed four months ago. Now the player nicknamed Stan has received a positive bulletin in his battle to defeat the cancer. Villa, in a club statement, said: "It is with great delight that the club can confirm on behalf of our long-standing captain, Stilian Petrov, that Stan's acute leukaemia is in remission."
Leo No.8 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Great news this. Feel a bit of a bond with him as he got diagnosed the same week I did, and we are similar age. What he's got is far nastier than mine so it's a real boost seeing him winning his battle. Edited August 7, 2012 by Leo No.8
