The one and only Bill Shankly, our best ever manager, passed away 30yrs ago today. Never forgotten. RIP Bill.

True John. There is a very strong argument for Paisley to take that honour, but Shankly was the one who set it all in motion. He created the Liverpool Way.

never quite sure what that means. style of football, or attitude?

if it's style of football, then quite a few different styles could be said to epitomise our 'way': some would say we're about attractive football; others that we're about winning, pragmatically if need be.

most would mention pass and move though, and Shankly gets the credit for that.

 

if it's about attitude, then what's the true Liverpool way? Shankly's wit and bombast? Paisley's understated class?

I see Dalglish as the very epitome of the Liverpool attitude - heavily influenced by both Shankly and Paisley, certainly, but Kenny brought something new to it.

 

or maybe it means winning lots of trophies and having an affinity with the supporters, in which case I'd definitely agree that Shankly created it.
