Dominus Maximus Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/jonathan_wilson/01/04/prospective.liverpoolcoaches/index.html Owen Coyle. Well no not really. But I don't have any faith in Roy Hodgson. I never had actually. I still oppose the termination of Rafa and I think that Liverpool, with Hodgson as manager, is on a rapid decline in stature. I want to see this club succeed in winning the league but honestly as things stand Liverpool is miles away. United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea (in that order) all have more positive things going on for them. Hell, even Tottenham are pulling away. Unfortunately Liverpool is badly in need of quality players at multiple positions. The club is badly in need of a modern and hungry manager with the ability to create a positive brand and style of football. At the moment this club is quite frankly one depressing ride. Who loses at home to Wolves? No, this club needs a better manager. German football is on the up, maybe we should go with a German bloke. Thomas Tuchel is awesome and would do brilliantly in the Premier League. If we go English again, Owen Coyle at least is entertaining to follow. We could go Dutch with Hiddink in the summer. French with Deschamps. As long as Torres and Gerrard are in the line-up, this team should play 4411. Then please buy players who suits that system and let's get on with it FFS. Don't buy crappy squad players, don't buy players who can't pass the ball. My ideal blueprint. GK Reina DL ?????DR Johnson DC ?????DC Agger Make sure to relegate Carragher to 3rd center back and get a new number one guy in there. Take your pick from agger or skrtel and sell the other one. Get a real LB. ML: ?????MR MaxiDMC MeirelesAMC ????? Kuyt, Jovanovic, and Babel aren't good enough. Kuyt has been a great servant, but I don't think he has anymore left in the tank. Lucas can be used as a squad player as you can't expect a team with him in the starting line-up to actually win the Premier League. SC Gerrard SC Torres In the attacking department there should be no doubt that Gerrard is best when used as a forward. Torres should lead the line and whilst Ngog has potential they really should sign a better alternative to Fernando. Honestly an alternative to Gerrard is also needed. In total I see the need for 6 new quality players before Liverpool realistically are able to challenge for the title. Hopefully the next manager recalls Insua and Fabio actually pulls of a full season, because then you only need five new players. Two in January and three in July or vice versa. There should be plenty money available from player sales, and with no large debt payments it will be interesting to see, if Liverpool are going to the market with the big boy pants on, like that year where we bought Torres and Mascherano, Babel and Yossi, I really look forward to see what the plan is. Comolli probably has something to say about this as well, but honestly, look at what he was a part of at Arsenal and Tottenham. Both clubs are better off than Liverpool at the moment. Here to Henry to show that he has the balls to back his big cigar PIC or if NESV really just are here to do a Rander Lerner. Sorry this should have been in "the new manager thread."
muleskinner Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 It was mentioned somewhere Coyle is a very devout Christian, is that true?
Gerrardrules Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I do not like how he dresses during the match. There I've said it.
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) Kuyt has been a great servant, but I don't think he has anymore left in the tank. There's a lot of things you can question about this club at the moment, but Kuyt's 'tank' ain't one of them. Edited January 5, 2011 by Florist Cinema Pond Goal
Maldini Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 They've scored a couple of great goals, it's pretty much still lump it up to the two big men though, don't know why people are making them out to be Arsenal.
John am Rhein Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 It was mentioned somewhere Coyle is a very devout Christian, is that true? what an idiot!
schmuckdonald Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 To be fair to Coyle, he's turned Bolton into something resembling a football side, which is saying a lot. But no, I don't understand the praise for a guy whose not really done that much. And to be fair to Kuyt, in the two seasons previous to this he's missed one Premier League game, was ever present for Holland in the run to the World Cup final and hasn't had a break in a very long time. Pretty fair for the guy to be struggling.
Epic Swindle Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 To be fair to Coyle, he's turned Bolton into something resembling a football side, which is saying a lot. But no, I don't understand the praise for a guy whose not really done that much. Thought they were poor against us in both games. The game plan still seems to be centred around getting it forward quickly to Davies. He's one to keep an eye on for the future mind.
anfield11 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 what an idiot! What's wrong with him being a Christian?
Dominus Maximus Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 But seriously. If Henry wants an English manager it has to be Coyle. Hopefully he'll appoint Thomas Tuchel. He's a bad ass.
John am Rhein Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 What's wrong with him being a Christian? It's really stupid
Dominus Maximus Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Why Tuchel? Because he is a bad ass and he is awesome and his side plays great football under the circumstances...
schmuckdonald Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 How many Mainz matches have you watched, out of curiosity? Can't claim to have seen a single one, personally. Just know he's young and German, not sure about his 'bad-ass' or 'awesome'-ness.
Ed the Wool Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I don't. Not until he's actually done something. At the minute I don't see how he's done any better than Moyes, and I don't want him either, regardless of the fact he's maanging Everton. We can do a lot, lot better.
Dominus Maximus Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 I've seen half of their games this season in full length and the rest on highlight shows. I've seen him on German TV giving interviews and I've been in the mix zone after two different Mainz games this season. He is so cool and his brand of football is fresh. Could work. At least he won't shake hands with Fergie like Roy likes to do...
Cam Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 The goal he scored for Bolton reserves a couple of weeks back should make him a candidate.

floyd Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 What's wrong with him being a Christian? In the ideal world, We'd be free to choose
