anyway, are we likely to see Torres start? do we throw in Pacheco from the off?

A bit lightweight but in essence we could set up the way barca do. I'd take a bit of belief out of the team right now. They look destitute out there.

i'd swap Lucas/Poulson for Gerrard, shift Gerrard up to play beside Cole, and move Kuyt right and bench Maxi. i'd also start Aurelio and then replace him with kelly after 25 minutes when he gets injured

Kelly deserves a place right now IMO.

 

i think the danger is he gets burnt out. we have a lot of games, let him play UEFA and League cup, settle him in gently, and then slot in when Aurelio inevitably gets injured. i think if we can get 20-25 games out of him this season, he could make a position his own next season

I'd have been playing Gerrard & Cole just behind Torres anyway. With Aquilani gone Pacheco and then Shelvey are next in line for the positions.

We;re not going to do that, although we probably won't be looking at two defensive mids for the time being.
