Cole wants a central role, Jovanovic was punished by being forced to play out left at Liege.

 

How, what, where. I can't even begin to see how this will work. Assuming Masch does leave will we have

That will get raped. I need some formation expertise to make sense of this. If Cole and Jovanovic aren't left sided then who is? Gerrard.

We need a centre forward. We need a centre mid whatever happens, two if Masch goes. We need two left backs. I'd argue we need an improvement at centre half.

 

Players will have to go to fund however much of that we can manage.

in that case i think it will be kuyt left and cole off torres, rather than vice versa

don't think it's been a long-standing policy as such. he tried it with some success when they were struggling a bit last season. related most to getting duff playing better and scoring goals.

That's certainly how it looks to me.

 

I only hope that our transfer plans don't rely on funds from this particular transfer or not as the case may be.

We need a left back (obviously) and an upgrade to Skrtel. Other than that our squad actually looks very competitive.

 

Another striker would be nice, but since we only play with one and we have Torres, Jova and Kuyt i'd prioritise defence.

This would require Gerrard to be more disciplined and play more of a holding role which I'm not convinced he is up to mentally. If Roy thinks we need a more defensive midfielder there we could drop Aquilani and bring in Lucas. It remains to be seen as to which players Roy rates and who will be in his first eleven.

If Mascherano stays obviously he plays alongside Gerrard but if he is sold that should give us enough money for a decent left back, and a decent CB (think Hangeland would be a great replacement for Carragher) ideally we'd also get in someone better than Lucas.

I think we'll end up with something like this.

 

I'd prefer a 433 though. Maxi, Kuyt, Jovanovic and Cole could all play wide on the three, Gerrard, Cole, Lucas, Aquilani could all play central. We'd need two CMs more though if Masch leaves. Another more defensive mid would be needed anyway.
