Only played 3 games since november.

No game till next tuesday and then no game for a furthur 3 weeks.

whose running the Reserve League, is it Keegan?

Called off again.

This is a nonsense, these kids desperately need games.

i think we should seriously start looking at getting more of these guys out on loan. i know it might mean that we dont get to keep an eye on their development as much, but surely if we loan them out to reasonably local sides, maybe the likes of Accrington, Chester, Tranmere, Bury, Macclesfield etc, we can get them back to melwood one day a week. the whole reserve set up in this country needs looking at, because its killing the development of younger players.

Yeah, players like Threlfall have had 3 or 4 years of this. It's completely ridiculous.

Why on earth can we not just play every team thats in the premier league in reserve games?

I've heard cost mentioned before, but it aint that f***ing much to send 25 people or whatever on a coach!!

aye, like this week, whats stopping Blackburn reserves coming to Liverpool and playing the ressies at melwood? or even playing them at anfield before the main game?

Rafa's been trying to get reserve football taking more seriously for ages, with his suggestion of B teams.

dont agree with B teams in the league at all, because it would be at the expense of a smaller team whose football team is often the focal point of the community.

the ressie league just needs revamping

Yup, if their pitch is waterlogged then play them at the Academy or wherever.

and the people who bleat on about no young local talent coming through, is it any f***ing wonder when none of them can get a game?

Jay hasnt had a game in months. he'll go completely of the rails and get an ASBO soon if we arent careful. the lad must be bored silly

He's just got a DS XL, but he's gonna swap it for a moped off Darren Potter.

Our Hull Sunday League is run better than that reserve league.

p155ed off cause the lads aren't getting looked at and the fact that I do enjoy watching the ressies.

I'm completely confused as to why teams aren't kicking up more of a fuss about this, since it affects development of young players, as well as preventing players returning from injury getting games etc. The Southern league only has 9 teams in it, which means they'll only be playing 16 games in a season. It would clearly be to everybody's advantage if there were more games, and better organisation, and I can't believe it would cost that much money (and I imagine most clubs would be willing to pay...) I think our reserves have had 2 league games in the last 3+ months.

I presume the arguments against bigger reserve leagues include not overplaying young players, giving them time to train more to develop and not just playing matches etc in addition to cost and logistics. However the current lack of games is farcical.

cost and logistics shouldnt even come in to it. the cost of arranging matches for the season would be less then we pay one of out top players in a month.

we have a pitch at melwood that could be used as well, or even use Anfield for some of the games

It should be rebranded and reaunched as a mini premier league. It would pick up soe followers if it was the same teams as the PL playing their fixtures just before. If its other venues such as Melwood then they can be screened at the PL grounds on big screens.

Free to view over the internet and qualification for a European reserve league.

The advert for the weekly roundup on channel 5 could feature Jay Spearing doing keepy uppy with a box of cereal that he found in a car park.
