Yossi now out for a month with a broken rib?

I know that's a bit different from the usual kind of football injury, but what is it with the modern footballer and injuries?!?! No wonder you need a massive squad....hardly anyone goes through a few months, let alone seasons without being out!

Right now would have been a great time to give Kelly a run....injured.

We could have used Riera right now....injured.

I could go on, but it also makes you wonder if they have the stomach for a fight.

Getting back to last night, I have to confess it's not getting knocked out that upsets me [even though we should have been sailing through to the fifth round] it's the manner of play, the lack of heart, the lack of fight. We could get beat 3-0 and as long as I felt the players were busting their lungs, I'd be fine with it. Displays lately have been nothing more than pathetic. I know I was outvoted in opinion, but I didn't even think we were that good at Villa. Correction, I thought we were poor at Villa.

There's only been Pepe and Masch having good seasons, which brings me to an issue for me. I know Masch has been suspended, but for me I'd play him every game without exception. He is one of the few that has the heart and fight and makes life miserable for the opposition and he's been sorely missed the last few games. I'm hoping at Stoke he plays [he is available isn't he?] and Aqualani plays a bit more forward of him, like he has been doing with Lucas. I'd like to see us go to Stoke and be very offensive from the get go and take the game to them. My fear is that we will be paranoid and play too cautious and get burned.

As for Rafa. I don't want him fired, but if the season doesn't turn around quick and we miss the top four he could be on a hiding to nothing. You have to put a lot of blame on the players for their lifeless efforts.....yeah yeah yeah, Rafa should motivate them.....not obscene pay packets!!

Did you edit any mention of Maxi out of your post?

In answer to the thread title, yes start him against Stoke, can't do any worse than that shower of s**** last night.

:) Good point

I'd stick him in straight away. Can't do any worse than the much thats out on the pitch at the moment. Might not have a choice if Yossi, Nando and Stevie are out anyway.

Christ, this Stoke game could be terrifying.

Experienced international. If he's nto ready for Stoke he might as well pack it in now.

Its not about being ready for Stoke. Its whether he knows what he's doing within our team. Although it appears noone else does either, i admit

Exactly. He watched that mess from the stands last night and if I were him, I'd be thinking it was a great time to get right in. I confess, it would be out of character for Rafa though, but if Yossi, Torres, Riera and Stevie are missing, you have to think he must.

We need someone to come in, something to change to jolt us out of this stupour we're in as a team. I would throw him straight into the first team on Saturday, its worth the risk in this instance as all the options we already have are so dreadful.

Definitely play Maxi, not sure about the Pacheco shouts.

In fairness, Stoke away is probably not the ideal fixture for Pacheco.

We need someone to play who isn't infected with the malaise, and someone who can transmit confidence serum to the others.

Whatever he does he's got to put someone with Ngog or Dirk if they start upfront. Or pair em with eachother, whatever, just dont leave either alone up there.

I'd like to see

Maxi, Mascherano, Aquilani, Babel

Pacheco

Dirk/Ngog

I thought they looked alright together last time they played. For a bit at least.

Babel? He's atrocious.

Babel? He's atrocious.

I know. There isnt anyone else for me. I dont want to see Maxi or Dirk shoved out there and Aurelio is the last person I want to see there.
