He has now played 104 matches for Liverpool scoring 4 goals.

What would you say is his 3 strongest and 3 weakest attributes as a footballer player for Liverpool?

Posted (edited)

Strongest:

Technical ability

Passing

Intelligence

Weakest:

Made of Aquilaninium

Pace

Lack of aggression (may be linked to the first point)

Made of Aquilaninium

Or is Aquilani made of Aurelionium?

Aurelio's other primary weakness is that he's been labeled a 'free kick expert' by some commentators, meaning he's unlikely to add to the 1 free kick goal he's scored for us...

2 free kicks (3 if you count the one against Portsmouth last season, although that was indirect)

Okay, to be serious...

POSITIVE

- one of the most intelligent players in the squad (arguably THE most intelligent now Alonso has gone)

- ditto passing/crossing

- our ONLY player capable of taking a decent set-piece

NEGATIVE

- made of glass

- takes a few games getting upto speed after injury, then gets injured when he hits form (Owen/Van Persie syndrome)

- not the quickest (but good enough at reading the game to compensate)

His distribution from left back is mindblowing at times.

He is surprisingly hard, look at him taking Robben out the game in Madrid.

Best dead ball striker at the club.

His weaknesses are obvious, had fitness problems with almost every part of both his legs, and seems to take a good few games to get back into it.

i think he's extremely hot and cold. his dead balls against wolves were apalling jarg.

He hasn't hit top form yet since his most recent comeback. They were bad though.

Saying he's the best dead ball deliverer at the club isn't exactly glowing tribute to a Liverpool player anyway.

no that's true. you know benayoun had a stint at taking corners and they were pretty good.

never understood the gerrard taking corners thing.

riera has the technique - when is he back?

God knows. He was t***ting around in a big coat during the Wolves game.

I've never been able to understand what's so difficult about corners. It's probably my own naivety, but a corner kick is one of the least pressurised situations in the game, the nearest marker has to stand miles away and they don't always bother doing that. Surely getting a ball to drop somewhere between the 6 yard line and the penalty spot is something that you can train any professional footballer to do?

I've always maintained that our corners looked miles better whenever Hyypia was on the field too, so I think there's definitely an element of us trying to overcomplicate things when we haven't got the big lad to aim at as plan A.

Aurelio at left wing with Insua behind him is just so awfully negative. Aurelio should be playing left back at the moment with Insua rested for a spell.

With Kuyt and Aurelio wide we are desperately short of pace in wide areas so we move the ball painfully slowly through midfield. Its depressing to watch. Unless Torres has the ball we are horribly one paced and easy to defend against.

No speed anywhere means no fluidity, poor movement and a shortage of space.

Still hoping things will click but we are pretty dire to watch at the moment and its down to the makeup of the side. The balance is far too heavily weighted in favour of work rate against skill and pace which results in a slow moving, lumbering animal of a side.

1 free kick? 1 V Chelsea and 1 V Man U equals 2.
