Igors Uncle Dave Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I have been watching Ayala at reserve level over the past few games and his introduction to the first team. I'm impressed, as impressed as I was about Insua all those months ago. His ability in the air is excellent and with time, experience and coaching, I think he has a fair chance at reaching the top. One to watch here!
sutty Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Thought he was promising when he came on against spurs too. Should get a CC run.
D.Boon Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Id have Pacheco in the first team squad. The kid looks exciting and has to be a better bet than Babel at this point.

I'm impressed, as impressed as I was about Insua all those months ago. His ability in the air is excellent and with time, experience and coaching, I think he has a fair chance at reaching the top. One to watch here! Yep. Let's not forget that the one appearance he made in the first team was against Stoke who are one of the more aerial threatening teams and he conducted himself very well for a first appearance. Also looked good in the air against Crouch at Spurs. Id have Pacheco in the first team squad. The kid looks exciting and has to be a better bet than Babel at this point. Given Babel's outburst all over the media this morning he should be playing in the next reserve game IMO.
lfc4eva99 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Id rather have had Nemeth on the bench than Voronin, Pacheco would now be the next logical choice, alongside Ngog.
richwilks Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Id rather have had Nemeth on the bench than Voronin, Pacheco would now be the next logical choice, alongside Ngog. What's happening with N'gog. Doesn't seem to be in the first team squad and not in the reserves. Is he injured?
Zoob Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Ayala's one big weakness is that he already looks as slow as Hyypia. In the youth cup final last year, the Arsenal kids were running past him at will
MFletcher Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) He was playing alongside Joe Kennedy. This goes some way to explaining said performance. He strikes me as someone who'll do better with better players. He looks a cut above at reserve level. There was a moment last night when he intercepted the ball, took it forward and then made a nice pass off to a midfielder. I was enthused by his performance against Stoke as well. Granted it is only Stoke, but he had to contend with a number of high balls into the box and got his head on a lot of them. It was a commendable performance for a young player making their first start, especially against such a physical and aerially proficient side. Edited September 3, 2009 by MFletcher
allez les rouges Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Ayala's one big weakness is that he already looks as slow as Hyypia. In the youth cup final last year, the Arsenal kids were running past him at will he is not as slow as you make out. But his reall weakness is his finishing, it is dire. The kids very exciting though

In the youth cup final last year, the Arsenal kids were running past him at will He was massively exposed in that cup final. He didn't do himself any favours but Joe Kennedy alongside him was shocking. He'll be a good player.
Igors Uncle Dave Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Encouraging to read the reports here guys and there seem to be one or two of the youngsters ready to step up. For a long time now we have heard that we have not produced through the youth and it has taken the staff and the club some time to bring in tallent that can, and will come through to represent the club. The future looks bright

Not that it should make a difference, just a shame in my eyes.
Guest PaulMcC Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Ayala is class in the air. He looks to really love the physical side of the game and defending in general.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 The future looks bright Hmm. In that we have a handful of young players who may go on to be good. Not in many other ways.
Igors Uncle Dave Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Hmm. In that we have a handful of young players who may go on to be good. Not in many other ways. Hmm. That seemed to be the topic of the thread and what everyone was talking about. There are other threads concerning the "other ways" that you mention.
Magic8Ball Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Ayala is class in the air. He looks to really love the physical side of the game and defending in general.good to know, what's he like at bringing the ball out of defense ?
Cunny Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Given Babel's outburst all over the media this morning he should be playing in the next reserve game IMO. Why weaken the reserves?
richwilks Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Why weaken the reserves? He could keep Brouwer company on the bench.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 That seemed to be the topic of the thread and what everyone was talking about. Ooh, get you.
BG Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Id rather have had Nemeth on the bench than Voronin, Pacheco would now be the next logical choice, alongside Ngog. I'd imagine the list of names that most of would rather have on the bench than Voronin is very long. And that's just the players already at the club.
Tones Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala has signed a new deal with the club. As revealed by skysports.com back in July Liverpool were planning to offer the Spaniard a contract extension and the 18-year-old has agreed a new deal to keep him at Anfield until 2012. Ayala made his first-team debut for the club against Tottenham on the opening day of the season and has gone on to make three appearances. Ayala joined Liverpool in September 2007 from Sevilla and he is highly-rated by the Anfield coaching staff. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5690732,00.html
richwilks Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Good news. He's been excellent for the reserves this season.
stressederic Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 There goes the January transfer budget...
