as I said in the Rafa thread

Time for a change in the nature of our support. My season ticket is on the Kop, right in front of the singing section so I dont get a true idea of the level of noise in the ground

I have to say it was embarrassing. One of the quitest grounds I have ever sat in.

We sit on here and smugly go on about the "twelfth man" and laugh at the Mancs and Arsenal or Chelsea about there atmosphere

well from what I have seen and heard we are worse......It was pitiful yesterday....I hardly heard the Kop until we scored. In fact there was more singing from the Main Stand / Anny Road corner

City were three times as loud

we go about the team or the manager needing to step up

f***ing hell....we need to look at ourselves

Raising it for Madrid and the Mancs isnt good enough

Can I have your season ticket?

I firmly believe my presence and gorgeous singing voice would improve things ;)

Seriously though, I wasn't there so obviously can't slag off the ones who were, but it did seem very quiet on the TV.

The Kop didnt even sing the normal Torres song yesterday. Instead there was a brief version of Torres a la the Dalglish/Fowler chant.

Got the impression the crowd had accepted the 8 point lead the Mancs had as being too much for a team without Gerrard and Alonso. Didn't even hear that many angry voices in the crowd, just quiet resignation.

Aye, even the message boards weren't as vitriolic as I'd have imagined

The crowd at Anfield has been getting quieter and quieter every year. Only really get themselves geed up for the big League games and the Champions League games. Think most fans now going inside Anfield expect us to turn over the opposition and win comfortably.

Have ranted about this a few times. We can moan about the players/manager all we want, but i think the worst performances this season have been by the fans. Yes we are the least important, but its the easiest thing for us to change! As Dave says we can't brag about how we have influenced games in the past, without accepting that we are having no influence, and alot of the time a negative influence on what is going on on the pitch this season.

I'd give everyone their money back for their season tickets (which includes me) and have every game until the end of the season pay on the gate. See how much these moaning b******s in the main stand want to go then

We should be screaming at refs, getting them under pressure for every decision.

I thought there was a 2nd half peno (no not that one Dave), but there wasn't even a murmur from the crowd for it.

I think the opposite is true about expectations. I think alot of fans go to games now expecting a draw, unless we get an early goal.

Once we go past 20 minutes without scoring, the nail biting starts and the nerves begin to show.

I spoke to my brother who only gets to go occasionally these days, and he says he has never seen or heard so many people who have such mediocre expectations of the team, not sine the wilderness days anyway.

I sit and watch from my comfy couch and I honestly expected us to draw yesterday.

How do you change the atmosphere at the ground and rev up the fans? The product on the pitch has to be better and the team needs to score early in games to give the fans something to cheer about.

so the best atmosphere is at the better sides grounds?

expect it isnt is it

Which, as we're in 2nd place and still in Europe, is f***ing madness. The world's truly gone mad.

Pompey and Stoke currently fighting it out at the top of the league, clearly

This argument is a bit chicken and egg isn't it? Does the crowd get what happens on the pitch going first or events on the pitch fire up the crowd?

Anticipation seems to get the crowd going, which can be seen by the European nights when the crowd is buzzing before kick off. It isn't necessarily gung ho football that gets the crowd up, it can be stupid refereeing decisions or some argy bargy between the players. Yesterday's game needed a bit more needle in it, with both sides being too nice to each other.

In the good old days the crowd got going when the likes of Tommy Smith and Norman Hunter clattered the opposition. It's not just about the quality of the football on display, it's about the competition and desire to win. You get that in the big games, but it doesn't happen as much in the "lesser" games. Football has gone soft, and so has the crowd.

Posted

I know there is the old arguement about is it the crowd that gets the players going or is it the players that get the crowd going but I think this season sways toward the side of the players. We take so long to get going that the enthusiasm the crowd brings into the ground has all but disappeared by the time the players get their game heads on.

Do what they did years ago. Pay on the gate, then open up the gates at halftime....

im in the kop, not far away from you if i remember and I agree with you. What gets me is the "hardcore" moaning about all the jester hats and whoppers in the anny road. Yet they outsing the kop most games. Have a look round when we sing YNWA, where are most of the scarfs held aloft? th majority are the in the sections were season tickets dont sit. If you ask me, its the season ticket holders who need to take a look at themselves. I have ST and I sing loud everygame. But I am the only one in my section

There's deffo a large section of people who'd rather moan than try to improve it themselves. not saying anny is one of those, but i've noticed a fair few. Too cool for school if you would. I tend to just shout/sing regardless of the funny looks, wish more people would be like that. shame they're more worried about their latest adidas shoes or whether or not they'll look like a daytripper by holding up a scarf.

To be fair, Anny is one of the best i have ever seen for singing when no f*cker else would join in with him.

Its not just singing anyway, its general attitude. People hate the f*cking players and cant wait to tell them. Its bizarre
