yeah well done son, you've been lifted up by a drug taking, air rifle firing cheat.

you've probably decribed the lad's father there considering he is from Glasgow

its good to hear Terry Butcher has said he wont shake hands with maradona because hes a cheat.

Well done Terry.

f***ing prick.

Pathatic isn't

I love it how England seem to assume that they would have went to win the cup if it wasn't for the hand of god!

it's 'pathetic', hassony

at first i thought you were spelling it that way to wind Ant up

now i realise you just can't spell :)

not sure Butcher is assuming that England were gonna win the WC btw - but Maradona has never apologised for it so i don't see why there's any need for Butcher to forgive him

He is however, a grown adult of nearly 50 years of age. Shaking an opponents hand shouldn't be too much to ask regardless of what happened 22 years back in a match

Terry Butcher's constant digs at Maradona are a great source of amusement.

playing hard and loose with the word 'constant' there, Fletch

Pathetic

well done

Can anyone imagine if Ronaldo cheated us out of something?

You'd be pushing me very far to shake his hand 20 years down the line

He's just been asked about it in a press conference.

He mentioned Geoff Hurst's 'goal' in 1966.

It went down very well with the largely Scottish audience.

If Terry Butcher was that upset at the time, why didn't he have ago at him when they were locked in the room together with another teamate each, right after the game when they were giving samples,

Me thinks Butcher, who is by far and away the most vocal on this matter, is just playing up to his stereotype.

I think most of the players should be pissed of with Tina Shilton, who should of easily had that ball. Clem would have

I bet there are a few posters on here that have a habit. Most of the musicians we like have a habit. Yep he cheated and I bet there is noone here that moaned about it at the time and for years afterwards as much as I did, but ffs, he is one of the best players the world has ever seen. You have to respect the guy for that.

I can't fathom all this griping about "The Hand of God".

He may have cheated once against a country which has a media that vehemently bays for blood at every opportunity, especially as it was not so long after the Falklands, but; feck me; he tore England apart single-handedly with the best ever goal in any World Cup and should rightly be regarded as a genius.

 he is

he's just also regarded as a cheat - cos he's that too

scoring a really, really, really, really good goal still only counts one, btw.

Lineker should have buried that 2nd header and taken the game into extra time anyway

Butcher is a cretin. I think it's funny that they even bothered ask Maradona about it, as if Maradona would give 2 craps about a defender he could waltz past with his eyes closed. England lost that game because they weren't as good as Argentina. And just as Maradona's best ever world cup goal only counts for 1 goal, so did his cheated hand of god goal.

Well, DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

hence they won 2-1

wasn't much between the 2 sides on the day, England were much the better side after the introduction of Barnes too
