So what are we going to do Saturday with Arbeloa suspended?

I really don't have a lot of faith in Degen from what I've seen from him so far.

Who would you rather see at right back on sat?

Degen (if he's not injured)

the bloke is an international full back, or are we writing him off after last night ?

Depends, if Rafa is happy with Sami and Agger at the back (not sure I am after last night) then Carra at RB but I'd rather see Carra Agger Aurelio remain and bring in Degen at RB. I know he's been s**** but I'd rather disrupt one position than 3.

Should be Carragher

You feck about with one of the centre halfs positioning then, and that always spells trouble for us. Would rather have Carragher looking after Darby on his right hand side.

Hyypia and Agger is fine though, well without 2 full backs who cant defend either side of them anyway, if it was Arsenal away i'd think different but Sami is perfect for these yard dogs away.

To me, Carra, Sami, Agger, Aurelio is better than Darby/Degen, Carra, Agger, Aurelio.

Been completely unimpressed with what I've seen of him so far to be honest. Not just last night but pre season too. Degen was well off the pace last night and I don't just mean having a bad game - it was like he was playing at a different tempo to the rest of the team. He was taking forever to play the ball and it's not like he was moving at full pelt either.

In contrast Darby looked far more composed and in tune with the pace of the game, despite only coming on for the last what 10 mins?

My biggest concern is that Degen is more likely to cause a goal against on Saturday than Darby, so that's why I went for him. You could make a good argument for Carra there for similar reasons but I'm also a bit worried about the thought of Sami and Agger in the centre together.

I agree with all of that.

Pre season Degen looked awful defensively and Darby played well in amost everygame he played pre season. Seems he should be the logical choice over Degen really but it would be a big kick in the teeth for Degen if Darby played.

SOS knew he was s**** before he even kicked a ball!

so do we need to get rid of Degen come January ?

gotta admit i didn't really watch us pre-season so last night was the 1st i've really seen of him and he didn't have a good game but he wasn't alone and i'm prepared to cut him a bit more slack

he's a right back, we bought him as a right back and if Arbeloa is missing then he really should be playing

I heard a while ago that we were looking at setting up a deal with Degen returning to Dortmund and us signed Kuba.

Not sure that sounds plausible or likely though.

I can see your point in this but I currently have absolutely no confidence in him. Admittedly he hasn't had much of a chance but from what I've seen so far I'm dreading him getting near the first team on Saturday.

Maybe he hasn't shown everything he can do so far, he certainly wasn't the only one to play poorly last night and many of those are capable of playing much better. But if the performances he has put in so far are any indication then yeah I'd have him gone in January, if we could get rid.

Leave him in, he can only improve on that showing. Who plays down the left for Bolton?

They don't have one. They have a back and a front - straight down the middle.

So is Paul McShane.

My biggest worry at the moment is the fact Rob Styles is the ref, he is ruining every match he's involved in, its sickening this c*** is still reffing top flight games, how many f***ing more c**k up's till he's f***ed off?
