"Those who are interested in stats might want to know where Robbie Keane is on the list of Liverpool strikers who have been the slowest to score their debut goal. Peter Crouch is miles ahead of everybody else after failing to score in his first 17 games, finally scoring against Wigan in the Premier League after 1228 minutes. He scored on average in every 2,7 games since then.

Though you take your time to score your first goal, it won't necessarily predict how your career will materialise as you can tell from the presence of a certain Ian Rush who is high on the list and above Keane. Liverpool's greatest goalscorer couldn't stop scoring from the moment he scored his first in the 1981/82 season and scored 30 goals in his full debut season."

I'd forgotten Rushie took so long to bag a goal

Rush was 18 and came from a third division club, it cant be compared.

If there was a forum around then, you would be on here calling him s****

'Souness' would be moaning about how we were buying young Welsh lads and not giving scousers a chance

Why do you think that?

The potential was there for all to see.

Because fans didn't moan in the glory days?

I imagine this new breed of super fan would have been sat in the boozer shouting glib sarcy remarks at anyone questioning the likes of Avi Cohen and Frank Magarvey.

Ps. Robbie Keane is one of the best signings we've made over the past 20 years or so.

Diouf scored twice on his home debut, and went on to score 4 goals in total after that!

It would be good to see the other end of list... I make it 118 mins for Torres to bag his first, wonder where that is on the list?

74 mins for Owen.

Was Eric on Shaftsbury Avenue earlier today?

That's quite a statement.

Diouf was a c*** though, which clearly counts against him.

I thought this was going to be a thread about running so didn't bother opening it

He scored in the 74th minute. But only came on in the 58th....

Yep, that's more like it. Can still see the goal now, after that slide rule pass from Stig.

But, do you reckon he is faster than Rush? I think so, for sure. :P

It's far too early to judge Keane. I have a feeling he will be valuable in the second half of the season. We do really on Gerrard and Torres in some ways and I feel Keane can provide the needed cover. At least I hope so.

One downside are those f#!!**# chants. Can something be done about this?

We can't sing the Only One Keano chants because it copies the Mancs, but us singing 2-0 to the murderers is us "reclaiming" that chant.

I am the all-seeing master being of YNWA.

Still curious as to why you keep coming back after having gone off in a huff ranting about cliques and the like.

We haven't sung 'there's only one Keano' yet thank christ

And the mancs have never sung '2-0 to the murderers' so its not about reclaiming a 'chant'

But apart from that it was a great post
