INJURED TORRES TO UNDERGO SCAN

Fernando Torres will have a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the hamstring injury he sustained at Villa Park.

 

The Spanish striker was forced to limp out of Sunday's goalless stalemate and is now waiting to discover how long he will be on the sidelines for.

 

"We don't know how long Torres will be out for yet," said manager Rafael Benitez. "We'll have to wait for the results of the scan on Monday.

 

"It could be he is out for seven to ten days, but until he has the scan we won't know."

I s*** myself when I saw him pull up, fortunately he wasn't going full pace which could have royally f***ed him.

Thank god for the internationals though (never thought I would say that!)

He was moving quickly but managed to slow down, which i think is encouraging

aye, just keep thinking back to the times I have seen Bellamy crumble to the floor at full pace when the hamstring had gone... Lets hope its a tweak.

If was mega serious, he'd be down on the floor and would not be able to walk with it so hopefully it is a little tweak and with some rest, he'll be good to go for United.

we're gonna need himself and gerrard fit for the wancs. It really is about time that we stuffed the b******s... keane getting his first against them only to do that incredibly annoying goal celebration (oh the joy). If we did managed to beat them then i'd see us getting into 3rd gear... think we managed 2nd today even if it was a poor enough match.

Dont think either Torres will be fit for that game. Steavie needs 10 day to heal, will he be 100 percent fit.

Hamstrings even mild twangs take 10 day minimum, if you come back too soon you can make it twice as bad.

It's unfortunate, but someone eles has to step up to the plate for this game, cue Keane.

Liverpool have today confirmed Fernando Torres suffered a hamstring tear during the Reds' goalless draw at Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Liverpool striker limped off during the first half of the match and has been forced to withdraw from the Spanish squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia.

 

"A scan this afternoon has confirmed a hamstring tear in Fernando's right leg. He is expected to be out for between two and three weeks," said a club spokesman.
