Away from the euphoria

Not a vintage display, cant believe he is the same player that was undroppable when he came? An almost Sissokoesque fall from grace.

Lost count of the number balls he gave away and you wouldnt need to go onto a second hand to count the number of tackles he actually made.

Can only presume he already has a move tied up and hes just on cruise control.

Gutted really, he was a fantastic player but I think we carried him tonight and was partly the reason we lost the battle in midfield for much of the game.

he was terrible, one of the reasons for arsenal great start, constantly giving the ball away

Didn't think he started well (hardly alone in that) but grew into the game well. Was setting the tempo in the 2nd half.

Besides lets just enjoy tonight before we start any post-mortems

f*** off. f*** right off. f*** off.

I was AT THE GAME he was s****eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i thought he played really well, Arsenals great start was nothing to do with any of our players, they where just playing really well, once we got a hold of the game i thought he was good

Gerrard on the other hand, was diabolical, and in fairness to the lad, admitted so on ITV, fairplay to him for doing that

he was terrible for the first 25. Played quite well the rest of the game.

sensationalist b******s.

He took control from about 25-30mins onwards and helped us get a foothold on the game. He gave the ball away a couple of times but i think everybody did as we were pretty sloppy especially in the first half hour.

He's not playing as well as he can but considering the system we play I don't see Rafa selling him. He gave the ball away badly at times but so did Gerrard.

He was poor first half. When Flamini went off he started to get involved. Was stealing the ball well on occasion. Sometimes the opposition is just very good and their speed took him out of the game at times. Was really important in the second half.

suggesting he is on cruise control because he has a move tied up is sensationalist and frankly completely disrespectful of his performance.

This isn't just about tonight, this is about Alonso's form as a whole over the past two seasons. I think we should be judging him on that rather than just tonight.

isnt that part of his problem tho? up against pace in midfield he just gets left behind. when you compare his mobiltity to botg gerrard and mascherano he is practically the living dead?

watch the game from 25 minutes onwards again. Think you're blinkered by his poor start.

He wasn't great at the start but why single him out? Masch was just as bad with regards to giving the ball away first half, but I guess what with him being flavor of the month an all he gets away with it.... Some f***ing balance....

To be honest, Gerrard may be quicker but he's only quicker going forwards. I didn't see Gerrard tackling back with any great pace. Xabi has his limitations. He does need a bit of time on the ball and he's no the quickest, but he often makes up for this with the quickness of his mind.

his performance was s*** he hasnt played to his initial standard for 18 months

And Mascherano was just as guilty of giving the ball away in the first half. Was giving square balls straight to Arsenal!

No need to single out Xabi. It wasn't his best performance but it certainly wasn't Gerrard's or Masch's

Really don't understand the 'two seasons' stuff. He has been very erratic since coming back from injury. Prior to that, he has held a consistently good level, albeit with fewer of the imperious performances we saw the first seasons.

i dont really see a place in an english side for a player who is at his best with time on the ball though?
