we looked excellent at stages......yet just didnt have that extra edge to really put the game out of reach..

 

kuyt although he worked really hard and was one of our best performers alongside gerrard and skrtel...really should`ve buried that chance in the first half as should the really frustrating babel...

The 2nd half was just so annoying, we took our foot of the gas and never got back into the game...and let everton come at us..

 

Lucas was well off the pace all game,.....very dissapointed by him.

 

Anyway 3 points...against Everton very happy and we look forward to midweek..

Why on earth should I have any bias, I guess the problem is that I dont have the "positive bias" towards our own players when I judge them, Skrtel is a liability inside the box because of his positioning and how he defends crosses, I would be real happy if he was not.

Just reading the match thread and i think as fans we have to be realistic, there are very few games where we're going to dominate for 90min there are 2 teams trying to win especially in a derby game, and of course at some point in the game they're going to have some pressure.

 

It seems as if some fans expect us to dominate every game, never come under pressure and if we do we've played poorly thats just not going to happen.

 

Yes we need to get that 2nd goal to kill teams off, but this is a very young side, people like Babel, Lucas, Skrtel, Torres are in their first season in a new league but their getting valuable experience and will get better.

 

Whenever we beat Everton its a good day, yes we need to get better but we have a very young sides thats going to grow together.

Second half performance was awful. 1st 30 mins is how we should play. Hyypia was absolutely immense.

3 points was a neccesity, especially as the blues****s run in looks easier. We too the foot off the pedal second half but you have to think we maybe had one eye on midweek. Our back four looked solid, Lucas and Alonso looked a yard off the pace at times and Babel could have skinned Plug from the Bash Street kids more often. Gerrard worked hard as did Kuyt and Torres came up with another goal. Good Day in all. rafa please don't leave Sami out of another game this season.

I said it a couple of weeks back that I would be really surprised if we did not finish 6-7 points ahead of Everton in the end, now we are 5 ahead (6 counting goal difference) with 6 matches left, it looks pretty comfortable.

 

I really dont care about our perfromance today, we won the derby and ruined the bitters dream about finishing above us, that will do me.

He looks a good player but just does not have the phyiscal attributes to compete in this league and in virtually every game i've seen has looked a yard off the pace and seems to hide in games. For me Lucas is more suited to the Italian League

Is the right answer, Torres was marking him and it was only down to Skrtel getting accross that put Osman off enough to prevent him having a completely free header, the whole back 4 was excellent today

Physically he needs to get stronger but that will happen, hes still very young but hes a very good build around 6ft im sure Rafa will make sure hes stronger for next season.

To say that we "...let Everton come at us..." in the second half overstates it somewhat. They were completely toothless and never looked like scoring on their occasional forays into our defensive third. It was one of the easiest derby matches I can remember
