Big E Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Little bit of speculation about lil' Sam coming back. I reckon it'd be a good idea, he can speak spanish and would take some of the workload from Rafa. Might also be helpful for the players having someone else to work with. What do you reckon?
M4TTA Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Where the speculation from? anywhere i can have a read at all?
Ben 23 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I think it comes from him watching the reserves...
Stevie H Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 don't know why the spanish language would be a factor - doesn't rafa insist that everyone speaks english?
Guest Sabre Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 don't know why the spanish language would be a factor - doesn't rafa insist that everyone speaks english? It'll be useful when whispering sweet nothings to one another...
honourablegeorge Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sammy widely thought of as being a bit s*** when he was here?
Guest Sabre Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sammy widely thought of as being a bit s*** when he was here? I dunno...he ended up working for England following his results with Liverpool.
honourablegeorge Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Aye, but so did Steve McLaren. I can't remember where I read it, but there were a few snippets about him not being up to much, and not actually being all that invovled.
cocknose Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sammy widely thought of as being a bit s*** when he was here? How do you come to that conclusion? vital member of houlliers team, left to work with england as rafa brought his own people in, he is very well thought of at anfield and a respected coach nationally. shankslegend on rawk saying he is at melwood now.
RP Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I'd be very happy to see him back. Not as happy as Will, obviously.

As I say, It was something I read quite a while ago. I'm asking the question.
Flasher Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I'd be happy to see him back. Pretty sure Rafa wanted to keep him originally, but Sammy couldn't resist the England position. I think we need someone to replace Pako. Sammy or Jewell would suit me.
cocknose Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 why are you called cocknose? Why are you called Steve H?
cymrococh Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I'm sure I read that Rafa wanted to keep him.
Hassony Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Why are you called Steve H? I am guessing that is his name, if your real name is cocknose than your parents must have been really cruel
cocknose Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 As I say, It was something I read quite a while ago. I'm asking the question.Definitley Rafa was happy to keep him , Sammy felt he should go and better himself, the players like Carra Stevie love him, good news i think, direct replacement for pako
Guest Sabre Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Would be cool to see Sammy taking the warm up again
cocknose Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) it was a typo.My parents had sense of humor, my surname is dick s*** Edited November 15, 2007 by cocknose
Senrab_nhoj Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 My parents had sense of humor, my surname is dick s*** Not an inherited gene then
Benitez Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Would be cool to see Sammy taking the warm up again Not so sure about Sammy Lee as a coach, but as an assistant for Rafa and a link between the players and manager, no one better imo! So, bring him home
Bailo Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 How does anyone know what Sammy was like as a coach?
Benitez Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 How does anyone know what Sammy was like as a coach? Just a guess like - but you look at the teams he coached, and hazard an opinion from there You know, like people do here with managers and other coaches, at Liverpool and elsewhere! No one knows for sure, but it gives a bit of a clue as it does with any onther coach.

How would you rate his performance as England coach? I couldn't tell what input he had with them. I guess Bolton would be a plus point for him as a coach, given their relative success?
