missed villa last week, so it was my first of the season. i suppose after that today, my initial thoughts as we leftthe ground were of disappointment, disapointment that we didnt win and were cheated out of it but the worst display of top flight refereeing i have ever witnessed, booking teh same player twice, bottling booking people already on yellows, and that peanlty, as well as about a dozen other decisions he got wrong, the t*** should be reffing sunday league for 6 months, but you know what, i'm not that disappointed, becasue something dawned on me. we ae better than them, we are a better side than them, we play better football ad we have better players. for too long now, exciting flair players aresomething other teams had, yeah, we had Gerrard, but he was more a workhorse. in Torres we ahve now got someone who can make things happen, who makes you perk up when he has the ball. Babel too does that, we are exciting to wetch, we look dangerous going forward. i dont think we are the finished article yet, but we aent far short. its going to be an exciting season, hopfully Rafa cab get a seige mentality in that dressing room after today, and make it work for us. bring on Sunderland!

Big improvement on our part. We would have lost that game by a freak late goal in previous seasons - now we're dissapointed we didn't win it. We're going forward!!!

That's how i felt.

Even watching it, after they scored I thought it'd end a draw, but there is a definite shift in attitude in the team. They've got "it". Whatever "it" is - belief maybe.

I agree, Man Utd looked like they had 'it' from day one last season.

It was chelsea throwing on a third centre half while we were chucking in another attacker, it was Drogba who ened up playing in midfield as they hoofed it back to Reina over and over again and it was THEM celebrating the draw (didnt mourinho used to scoff at such things?).

Goodo.

He was trying really hard to justify those decisions mentioned in his post match interview.

you`re right lads, its the one shining light from today, ok ,we where blatantly robbed of the full 3 points, but not one of those players on the pitch today, the chav ones included left the it, without knowing who the best are, its us, everyone knows it

i watched it with a villa mate of mine, and not our biggest fan, and he even thinks it now, i really think this is it, its our year

Putting aside the robbery (Rob-bery, y'see what I did there? Oh.) there were negatives.

Mainly the same old story of failing to finish off these smaller clubs with a bountiful of chances. It should have been 2 or 3-nil by the time that blade of grass gave Malouda an angry look.

Also, fans should be allowed on the pitch to give c**ts a good t**tting.

until we can get our shots on target, we are going nowhere.

we had 5 shots on target to their zero, (apart from the PK).

we were playing a team that finished 2nd in the league last year and won 2 trophies along the way.

in games like this, you are not going to get 20 chances on goal, we took 1 of the 5 and we were robbed by the ref.

I know it was our second match n'all but before Lampard hit the penalty and we were looking on top and about to score, the thought did seriously cross my mind for the first time... could this be our year.

didn't like that dirty Fat Lard kicking Alonso.. at least Styles had the balls to book him for that!!! :managercontract:

i felt s***ty after the game.. robbed daylight that what it was...

Whoa, hold on there big feller, Chelsea have finished a zillion points ahead of us in the league over the last four seasons and are unbeaten at home for three years. There's a good feeling about us at the moment but let us not get carried away ...

Lets just see where we are after 7 or so games as haven't we ended up with just 10 points the last 3 seasons after 7 games? If we've a lot more points than 7 maybe then we can start declaring it's on.

walking away from the ground it did feel like we had lost the game.... People looked bewildered to be honest, wanting to get home to see what happened on TV..

I think we have a great chance this year.. Gerrard knows this too.. he looked like a monster yesterday.

this may sound a bit awkward but i watched the reply on TV again and i caught a smirk of Styles face abt 2 mins after the penalty was scored... it may mean nothing cause it was after he denied us a free kick after a foul on Alonso or Pennant, i can't remember..
