I think what's forced the Mancs list down is a combination of FC United types who ripped up or didn't renew their tickets over the Glazier thing (reducing it initially) and then the fact that this coming season all ST holders have compulsory purchase on cup and CL games so whether they want a ticket or not they will be shoehorned into buying one - I read elsewhere that this could lead up to an extra cost of over £300 - almost half again of what they'll be paying out for on an ST.

Tom Hicks was on R5 round about when the plans were released for the stadium saying the waiting list is 60,000.

But how many of these 60000 really want a ST if they were given the opportunity to buy one?

edit: not implying we still don't have a big f***ing waiting list that is

Seen this question a lot of times on the forum. You have to ask why people would go to the trouble of writing in and applying for a season ticket if they weren't prepared to actually buy one ?

I'd say the vast majority of that waiting list would take up the option of buying a season ticket if they could.

I tried buying another season ticket for the seat next to mine on the Kop a few weeks ago and was laughed out of town. The girl in the TO said I had no chance as the queue for season tickets was enormous.

Because the waiting list is so long people would apply to get a ST in the future but are not prepared to buy one a the moment. Perhaps they cannot afford one immediately or live too far from Anfield at the present to fully take advantage of a ST?

and? like i said, even if it was 50% of the list who'd take the option there would still be a waiting list. you can't have the entire new ground for season ticket holders.

the mancs have season tickets available... think it was to do with that auto cup scheme meaning they HAD to pay out in advance for all cup games as well as PL games.

I have been on the waiting list for 3 years or so... can't see me getting hold of one for at least another 11/12 years as a guy in work has been on it since 1997 and still no joy.

The main problem was that it became piece of piss getting on the list about 2 years ago when the Fan Card got introduced as all it was was a tick box saying you wanted to be on it.. Every man and his dog who got a fan card would have ticked it just for the sake of it.

I don't know anyone who falls into the categories you've proposed there, I can't see that being any more than a tiny minority. Are you suggesting that from personal experience ?

I would think people join the list as they want a ST ASAP, I doubt many think ahead thinking if I put my nam down now, I will be lucky in 2025 and at that time I will be in Liverpool!

can't imagine what the price of a ticket will be by then!!

I am considering putting my 5 month old son on the waiting list purely in anticipation of the fact that by the time he gets it he will be about 15... I reckon there will be loads that have done that with their kids.

No, not at all. I was merely asking.

If we in fact had 60000 people willing to a buy a ST plus the ones that already have one then our new stadium, even with the 80k or so capacity, would already be too small. We would need a Camp Nou sized stadium instead.

I would have thought that if somebody gets to the front of the list , even if they can't afford it/get to the match , then considering the size of the list they would get the ticket anyway and sell it on themselves until they are capable of going.

If it is 60,000 I would say no more than 15,000 would purchase ST - One of the reasons for an ST is it so difficult to get tickets to the match. If they get the ticket allocation correct they will match ST demand with those that want & will go to every game & also the demand for those you want to go to to "odd" games. The net result should be a full house every game. If people believe they have a good chance of getting tickets to games they will not take up the option to have to fork out money for a ST.

But that would mean that the damand for the big games would so high that people may resort to buying a ST just to be guaranteed a seat for those games and maybe sell their allocation for the 'lesser' games, no?

I've been on the waiting list since 1994. Never hear anything from the club.

Have written three times asking the TO what the position is, to confirm new address details etc, and heard nothing at all.

I read somewhere the list is still written out longhand in a book. Seriously.

Personally I;d be in favour of paying some small amount of money as a deposit to stay on the list. At least then the club would know how many people on there really want a season ticket.

I emailed them to say i'd sent a letter but hadn't heard anything. Guy told me I should have got a confirmation of receipt letter, and I should give it a few weeks.

Sent another letter a few weeks later but heart nowt back.

I'd buy a ST in the morning if i was offered it
