I remember we were very strongly linked with this kid a year ago, but he only had a bit of first team football behind him at the time. I watch highlights of French footy when I can catch them but that's about it really so I don't recall seeing much of Nasri - I know he's a winger.

I noticed last night he scored the winner for the full French team - his goal was in the first half so I'm presuming he started, so he must have come on a hell of a lot to be involved from the start in full competitive internationals, whilst still be in his teens.

So to our French footballing folk - did we miss out badly there or what? We're considering spending £10m+ on Malouda now who is obviously going to be more the finished product, but is this kid going to be a real player then? We were talking about some sort of loan with an option to buy at the time I seem to remember.

I noticed Cisse got half an hour for Les Bleus as well - that won't do our chances of flogging him any harm...

Actually, even more depressingly (of course as I say this is a guy I've seen only a couple of times on highlights footage, but he seems to be an up and coming star of the French game so for the figures we were talking at the time it has to be a shame we didn't get him) - wasn't he possibly going to be attached to the Cisse transfer?

Nasri is an attacking midfielder "new zidane" if you will, fantastic talent and it would be great to get him as part of any Cisse deal.

This is the thing, it won't happen now - at the time he only had a bit of first team experience and he was basically a makeweight in the Cisse deal.

Could be Djibril's busted leg playing for France cost us more than just the fee we'd have got - I seem to remember Rafa was quite keen on getting Nasri as part of the deal.

Now, judging from his elevation to the full national team, and with Marseille having sold Ribery I very much doubt they'd let him go; plus he wants to spend another year in France anyway so there's no chance this summer.

I remember people saying 'who the f*ck is he?' etc about Nasri but this is a great example of how you've got to snap these promising kids up before they really hit the big time. There is a certain amount of risk attached, but (particularly with attacking players) if they take to the game at the highest level, you're looking at large sums of money as soon as they have a good 6 months.

I thought the Cisse deal gave us 1st option.

He's top drawer and he's only going to get better. He plays as a #10 for France usually. Still a bit lightweight, bu hugely talented.

he is an attacking midfielder,a real number 10 and is briliant.he is held in higher regards then ribery in france.he is a kind of player we need as he has the vision and creativity to pass that final through ball, which he does often.it was mentioned that he will be involved in the cisse deal and i didnt believe that for a second as i knew he was too good for them to give away.real shame.

Seen a few clips on YouTube and he looks good. Highly rated by the French and Zidane. He was the French Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year as well.
