If Rafa brought back another Liverpool player

Rafa brought Robbie back the other year. If he brought another ex-Liverpool player back - would it be seen as a step backwards or would that depend on the player brought back ?

Provoking discussion.

If Rafa brought a player back he obviously thinks he could do a job for us. We have seen many times a move or a new manager can raise a players performance. for example (and I'm sure this isn't what Kev is hinting at ;) ) if Heskey came back, I don't think Rafa would play him out of position and could get the high level of performances we saw in his first season with us.

Depends. If we spent big on a standout number 10 and a wide player of top class, then £10m for a poacher aint a bad price if that's what we need. Thing is, Owen is no more than that, not been for maybe four years. So you'd askk yourself

Is he actually good enough? One dimensional player, has to play in a two man attack, no impact in build play, for a 'judge me on goals' guy, not in the top bracket of goals per game.

Can he survive rotation? Could he cope with being one choice of three or two, and not first name down? Can he keep his form and his attitude?

Can the squad cope with his frequent injury breaks? Make no mistake they will come, and he wont get half a dozen games in a row to play himself back into shape/form

Does he compromise the purchase of better players?

Is he willing to halve his wages?

I wouldn't be completely against Anelka coming back, so long as he wasn't the only striker purchased in the Summer. The same applys to Owen.

That pair apart it's hard to think of someone who would have a positive influence on the side.
