Fifa will investigate Tevez saga

serious question this as of late i've been hearing quite a few rumours that the deal between us and mascherano isnt totally above board. though the claims are coming from pool supports there is really no evidence that exists to support or deny their claims. do we actually know what kind of deal was signed between us and mascherano, whether he is still in any way owned by msi, and whether this investigation by fifa could have serious ramifications for us?

For what it's worth a ten point deduction would see us level in points with everton though taking fifth on goal difference, and would incredibly take spurs into the champions league!

so you have heard gossip rather than rumour then?

It's because of Liverpool being unhappy with Mascherano's contract at West Ham that all this got investigated in the first place.

I've been thinking about this, on the one hand it could come out that he is no more legit for us than tevez has been for them since 27th april, on the other, ours was a fresh contract conducted during the transfer window, and ratified by the league.

I can't see us being punished in the the league, but if we win the CL with Masch in the team you can be sure that Berlusconis Milan will claim foul should anything come of this Fifa investigation.

Do FIFA have any power over UEFA?

I thought UEFA and FIFA were both happy (in a legit way) that we signed Mascherano and baring in mind how long the FA/PL took before they gave us his clearance then I don't think we have too much to worry about.

FIFA have no problem with third party ownership, it's allowed in many leagues. The onyl rule that was broken was a Premier league one.

Whenever FIFA/Blatter say ANYTHING, it's s****.

Our deal with Mascherano is water tight, we did the deal with the full approval of the league, hence the big stupid delay that dragged into February.

That's what I thought. Wasn't the move given the green light by UEFA/FIFA?

Exactly, the FA spent long enough looking into the paperwork, it better be OK. WHU are in trouble for withholding documentation.

Im sure nothing could happen to us because we went to the FAand made sure everything was right. They gave us the go ahead, as did FIFA, so we would have nothing to worry about. And i would think that it was because of us going to the FA with our concerns that West Ham ended up being investigated.

Is correct

FIFA approved the Mascherano "can't play for more than 2 clubs" rule anyway.

I think they're going to look into banning 3rd party ownership.

I also think they should look into dual ownership of a player such as in Spain.

as far as I know you are dead right there. I think FIFA are stepping in by request of the premier league or the FA not sure but its basically to shut people up at sheff. utd and stop discourage them from legal action.

Yep. It'll be them banging their big FIFA drum for a day or two and then it'll be forgotten.

All the clubs have agreed to be bound by the rules & disciplinary procedures of the League. However much of a whitewash the decision was, they're pretty much stuck with it.

Spot on, beginning and end of it.

All FIFA are doing is hopping about because this might go to court and that's where the whole PL and FA get in the s*** as that's a cardinal offence in itself.

I doubt they're going to ban 3rd party ownership. It's the way things generally work in the South American leagues, and without it, the leagues wouldn't be able to survive at anywhere near the level they survive at right now.
