Magic8Ball Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 VALENCIA KEEN ON £13M MARTINS03/05/2007 GLENN Roeder faces a battle to hang on to Obafemi Martins after Valencia set their sights on Newcastle's 17-goal top scorer. The Spanish giants want a replacement for £20m-rated David Villa, who is set to join Liverpool in the summer. That will leave the La Liga side money enough to test Newcastle's resolve with a £13m bid for a player Roeder paid £10m for nine months ago.AdvertisementClick here to find out more! Martins has said in the past he would like to to play in Spain.source now that's interesting......
sean Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Same feeling about Villa as I had with Morientes. Much lauded but I don't quite see it in him just yet.
Magic8Ball Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Same feeling about Villa as I had with Morientes. Much lauded but I don't quite see it in him just yet.don't know if the above is true, don't know if he can cut it over here however unlike Morientes Villa doesn't rely on strength to get his goals, its all about guile guile should be transferable to any league. In some ways Villa reminds me of a Rolls Royce version of Mista when he played for Rafa so now we've been linked with Simao, Alves and Villa; not bad, not bad at all; when's Tevez coming ?
MickeyDocs Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Same feeling about Villa as I had with Morientes. Much lauded but I don't quite see it in him just yet. Morientes was quite a bit older when he came to the premiership (Villa is 25 and just about to reach his prime), but most importantly Villa has the one ingredient Moro didn't have which is pace, and bundles of it. He has the attitude and the ability, but do we have the reserves to outbid Chelsea - although their focus may change if there is a change of manager?
The Hitman Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I couldn't see Newcastle selling Martins for just £3m more than what they bought him for, after the season he's had.

Magic8Ball Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 a) Morientes didn't rely just on strength. b) "Guile should be transferable to any league" - such as Veron...? Point A Point well made, but Morientes was older than Villa is now when he arrived and Villa has more to his game than Morientes seemed to have Point B But Veron needed more time on the ball than Villa will need and doesnt have Villa's pace. Also being a striker you dont have to dictate play, you concentrate on being in the right place at the right time If you're saying you never know how they'll turn out, I agree, said as much in my opening
R A Softlad Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Kleenex! I need some Kleenex!! No need to be upset, this is good news.
