It's not a formality but we are in the best position I've seen us in in a two legged European competition so I'm going to speculate about the next round.

Before the draw I wanted to avoid English at all costs, when we got the second leg at home for both rounds (assuming we won of course, UEFA's fault for announcing the semi draw) I was quietly confident that we could repeat the Chelsea semi of two years ago however would have preferred Valencia.

It's crunch time tomorrow and I honestly don't know who I want to win. Valencia play like we do, they pass the ball well, try and control the game and are not adverse to a bit of counter attacking football. They are very very capable of an away goal and extrememly dangerous. Chelsea on the other hand are a good side but I get the feeling Rafa has sussed Mourinho out to some degree. I'd feel far more confident of getting a good result away to Chelsea and holding on at home.

I think I'd prefer Chelsea to beat Valencia because I think they will have one eye on the title race also so would give us the best chance out of the two. Of course we have to get by PSV still but I'm hoping for a 2-2 draw tomorrow night with plenty of cards flying around !!!!

It's a hard one. I think Chelsea would be easier to beat than Valencia but I would prefer to lose to Valencia than Chelsea.

Too many games against Chelsea, so I'm going to Valencia.

I just want Chelsea and Man U to go out:

Then I'll worry about who we have to play

Simple really

Is that not cutting your nose of to spite your face though when they are facing better opposition ? I'd rather play the worst team whoever that is.

P.S. Agree re Utd, really hope Roma do them, I DO NOT want to play them in the European Cup Final EVER

1 - Really dont want to play Chelsea again

2 - if we get past PSV I think we can do Valencia

3 - if Man U and Chelsea go out we get more of the CL Money

4 - if Man U and Chelsea go out the FA cup becomes their battle ground

but maybe you're right, I just want us to win the darn thing

Valencia are fifth in Spain, we should be able to do them.

Chelsea is going to be a media circus and Mourinho won't shut the feck up about it. Plus i reckon Chelsea will be really fired up to get revenge.

Let's get passed PSV first before we start talking about the next round.

Ahhh such wonderful naivety ;) Being fifth in Spain isn't like being fifth over here! They are just a few points off the top and still have a chance to win the league.

Honestly it really does not matter. Both games would be interesting. And yes we will beat PSV. No doubt. Sometimes you have to be confident and no be afraid of the god of mocking.

We did knock out Barca, and that team is way better than Chelsea or Valencia. As Gerrard said, I have that little feeling in the gut about us going all the way, and I'm not afraid to express it. I believe Valencia will see it through, and we will see Rafa win back in Spain.

CL: Liverpool

PL: Chelsea

FA: The Mancs can have that.

Yeah yeah yeah!

Anyway, Chelsea have better players, a better manager and want revenge. So Valencia please.

and Valencia won't be highly motivated? Quique Sanchez certainly would be! Coming up against a man still beloved of many Valencia fans, their most succesful coach ever.

I actually would fear Valencia more as an attacking force, they have fantastic players.

But, I do agree with you Surf - I'd prefer Valencia as well, but my only reason is that I prefer to see us play non English teams. That's what European football is all about for me, and I feel a bit cheated if we end up playing Chelsea in Europe 3 seasons running :D

I don't want Valencia cos I think they would be easier, I actually think they'd prbably be more difficult. They do blow a bit hot and cold, but when they are hot they really are a strong team.

As I can't make the away leg I really hope it's not Valencia as that is one team I'd really like to go visit. But then I really don't want the possibility of losing to Chelsea either

I don't want Chelsea again, just because I'm sick of playing them.

I want Balenthia.

Would be an incredible atmosphere for a game, and Rafa would love it too, plus he knows s****loads about the players.

Yeah, it's not like a team in fifth place in their league could ever win the champions league is it?!?!

Anybody remember the 2004/05 season?

Let's get past PSV first............then we will face whoever is up next. Chelsea or Valencia makes little difference to me. Maybe I'd prefer Valencia as it is familiar to Rafa and I hate facing Chelsea in every bleeding cup........

Not Chelsea - that'd mean they're happy tomorrow & I wish perpetual misery on them (and the Mancs).

So Chelsea can f*** off. So can the Mancs.

Balenthia in the semis - should we get there. And Bayern in the Final - should we get there.

Sorted

I agree though, I would prefer Valencia. Sick of playing chelsea, however if we do get chelsea I think we have a good chance of knocking them out again... and that would be great.

Chelsea to get knocked out so they can concentrate on the league and the sooner the other English teams get knocked out the better. Rafa would have Valencia sussed out so tactically speaking we should have the advantage, Vicente is injured so that's a plus for us and we can give future striker David Villa a preview of European nights at Anfield :P .
