Magic8Ball Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Its amazing looking at how Lennon has come along since joining Spurs ( how come we didnt try for him) I think the fee was 1.5m ( so those wanting big name buys pay attention! ) right now in this league I would say the only other Winger as good is Ronaldo ( I really hope the Mancs don't go for Lennon in the summer ) Watching Alves for Sevilla against Barca I was even more impressed with him than before, he was everywhere and outstanding too so the question is which would be the best for us ?
Mr Makaveli Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 well im not sure this should be moved. sure lennon has nothing to do with this club but we are after alves.
Owen1978 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I think Alves is not a out and out winger, his best position is definately RB. I see his overlapping runs being great outlet for Stevie.
Guest Linton Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 well im not sure this should be moved. sure lennon has nothing to do with this club but we are after alves. Are we still after Alves? His fee must be ridicoulous by now but he would make us a lot better. If we are to show the rest of the lague that we are the real deal we should go all out for Alves and a world class striker.

surf Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 What's happened with Joaquin? He was the missing piece of the puzzle 2 years ago.
Mr Makaveli Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 What's happened with Joaquin? He was the missing piece of the puzzle 2 years ago. he fell off completely... does he even get his game at valencia anymore?
Guest Linton Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 What's happened with Joaquin? He was the missing piece of the puzzle 2 years ago. He's a regular for Valencia. Still as unpredictable as ever. I'm glad we didn't sign him. Pennant is a lot more consistent.
CarraLegend Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 He's a regular for Valencia. He's been on the bench for a good few months now
Foo Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) Uh, I believe he has been injured until recently this season? Edited March 11, 2007 by Foo
CarraLegend Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) Uh, I believe he has been injured until recently this season? He was for a bit but he's been pretty much a sub for a good while now. He started the season in the team but now has 15 starts and coming off the bench 14 times Edited March 11, 2007 by CarraLegend
Dule Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I can see Alves being bought to play behind Stevie at RB, and Finnan being moved to left back. I definantly feel that finnan could play on that side of the pitch with him being good with both feet.

We have arguably the best right back in the world in our team, and some fans want him moved to left back... Brilliant.

CaptainXabi Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 We have arguably the best right back in the world in our team, and some fans want him moved to left back... Brilliant. You see, this is the attitude that I don't understand. And the same logic that made people think Stevie would be useless on the right. Steve Finnan is a good fullback because he reads the game well, commits at the right times, and doesn't make silly mistkaes (in general). That doesn't change if he moves to left fullback. It's not like asking him to play up front or on goal. The only thing that changes is that he has to use his left foot more. He's so two footed that I doubt it will matter. Players don't play in positions because they were labeled at birth. They play in positions because the requirements match their skill sets. LB has a very similar list of requirements to right fullback. The one big difference is you have to use your left foot more. Can Steve Finnan do that? The answer is yes, very much so. So I don't see why it's a ridiculous suggestion, especially given the number of successful fullbacks that play on their "wrong" foot.

_00_deathscar Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 The difference between moving Gerrard from center to right/left is VAST compared to moving Finnan across.
Paul Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Not advocating Finnan moving to left back but it's certainly not a ridiculous suggestion. Take Denis Irwin for example, right footed, originally played at right back - turned out to be one of the best left backs in the game.

Like Irwin and Candela were s***. and arbeloa was disastrous in his last two games? Oh and carra for about three years? You were one of those banging on that steven shouldn't move from the centre too
floyd Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) Maldini says we looked at Lennon but Rafa thought he was too small?? Thought watching that match how SWP must of been looking at Lennon and wondering what if, he didn't take his 50 pieces of (corrupt) silver Edited March 11, 2007 by floyd
Cobs Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 he wouldn't have a Premiership winner's medal and would be in a relegation battle at the moment?
