usually, the second day after the match, the english papers report their foreign counterparts reaction, but not seen anything yet...

Phil, a basic rundown:

El Mundo - Rijkaard outhought by Benítez

ABC - Barca, the champions, on the point of being eliminated

Marca (pro Madrid) Barca given a shock. Infantile mistakes cost dear. Benítez is a master tactician.

El Pais - Poor performance may end European season early.Questions have to be asked about Rijkaards' tactical acumen.

As - Liverpol maintain spotless record in Camp Nou

El Mundo Deportivo (Catalan) - Careless mistakes in defence can't hide patchy and disappointing performance.

The Spanish TV media quickly passed over the result prefering to concentrate on Valencia's draw.

The morning after the day before all the news spots had film of Barca's training sessions - glum faces all around.

thanks guys. it'll be interesting to follow this for the next couple of weeks.

interesting to hear about the 'glum faces' in training point. the cameras zoomed in on bucktooth after JAR's goal and i cant quite remember seeing a player looking so overwhelmingly shell-shocked.

If you zoomed in on any other player let alone rest of the stadium there would have been shell shocked faces everywhere with Riise scoring so brilliantly with his right!! ;)

I went to the away game when we played them in the UEFA Cup in 2001, and the next day the papers were full of the headline 'Antifutbol'! We were made up with the draw at the time but I've got to say looking back we were incredibly negative in that game, it was awful to watch.

It is so pleasing to have gone one step further by winning the game, but equally pleasing is the fact that we did so in such positive fashion. No 'Antifutbol' this time folks...

El Mundo's player ratings where mad an all.

Most of our players got 5 out of 10. Finnan got 4 :o Bellamy got 7.

But Momo got 9 out of 10 :D

Valdes got 1 out of 10, so thats fair enough as well.

Some good pics from El Mundo :

Today's El Mundo articles are titled:

Rijkaard is left without answers

and quoting Márquez: "We have to create opportunities...

El Mundo Deportivo have today gone with the if you can´t beat them, but them angle and are claiming that Xabi is Barca´s main target for the summer. They reckon Xabi´d fancy the move cos his dad used to play for them. I think they´re talking out of their a***.

here

They also report that we´re the only major European club to play more than a few times in the Camp Nou and remain undefeated. Apparently we´ve won the first leg away 26 times in European competition and each time we´ve then gone through.

Marca (pro Madrid) Barca given a shock. Infantile mistakes cost dear. Benítez is a master tactician and far batter than that boring Italian junt we've got.

Marca are saying that the Madrid board met on Monday night and the main person discussed as next manager was Rafa. Marca basically said that they can't see it happening at the moment though. It does seem inevitable he'll go there one day.

It seems inevitable from Madrid's point of view - with new money, new stadium and the sort of players we know he likes being amassed - which prospect looks the rosier for the next 5-10 years? Astable club on the rise, improving in every direction or a stuttering one with a dodgy board, dodgier ethics and a tendency to sack managers if the win less than 3 corners in the first ten minutes of any game?

I wouldn't bet on Rafa going anywhere for some considerable time now -especially with recent developments at the club.

I'm sure he won't, but he will go there one day.

They clearly weren't in Germany in 2002.
