The English in the second isn´t good enough for Rafa. Doesn´t sound like the kind of thing he´d say either, unless he got pissed in Portugal as well and did the interview whilst drunk.

First one seems accurate enough to be honest.

 

 

I can't imagine him saying this ""Me in Italy? I would see myself in a good way, I would feel myself ready for the Italian league."

He'd normally just say how happy he was at Liverpool, that he has a contract etc.

 

When you consider the second part where its claimed he said ""I think the final will be Liverpool v Milan and that we will win again. It's sure," it just sounds fabricated to me.

I don't know, Rafa has been inclined to be a lot less formal when dealing with the foreign press before. Wouldn't surprise me.

Its not the 'for sure' 'its sure' bit, its more about taking things for granted.

I just don't think he'd say to anyone that he's expecting us to be in the final before we've even begun the quarter final against Barca.

I know mate, sorry the latter part of that comment wasn't really aimed at you, was just addressing the 'for sure' thing.

 

I agree, it doesn't sound like Rafa to say that. Mind you, he could possibly have been saying something like that tongue in cheek - that wouldn't surprise me.

 

I think he probably said something to them though - too many quotes knocking around from this interview, doesn't sound like a quick snatched conversation which would be roundly misinterpreted/ made up. But for sure some of it's been lost in translation.

Rafa has been here three years and in that time never talks about anything other than the next game. I could hardly see him coming out with this stuff especially ahead of a big game and after the incident in Portugal. If anything he would be keeping very low key.

Some weird quotes there that just don't sound like Rafa. Is Corriere dello Sport known for mischief making or is it just lost in translation ?

 

it also goes on about 4 targets that rafa names. He never goes on about any teams or there players - ever.

These things just seem to pop up when a manager is wanted elsewhere.

 

capello to leave real madrid

mourin to madrid

mancini to chavs

 

That leaves a spot at inter, who tried to get rafa before us. Dirty tricks boys - just trying to planting seeds :hooked:
