Andy Mac Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 What are Platini's views on a European elite league? That could be his motivation behind reducing the places from 4 to 3 for the European Cup
Diarmuid Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 What are Platini's views on a European elite league? That could be his motivation behind reducing the places from 4 to 3 for the European CupHe originally wanted to scrap the CL altogether and go back to the old style European Cup, so I don't think a European Super League is high on his agenda.
Stevie H Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 platini's using this platform to hawk votes from the 'lesser' european nations. johanssen is the puppet of the g14. if platini wins, suddenly it's 4 into 3 won't go.
Mike Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 have to imagine that the "G 14" won't stand for it though don't you...

Leo No.8 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Surely this season's qualification won't be affected though will it?
Koogan Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 platini's using this platform to hawk votes from the 'lesser' european nations. johanssen is the puppet of the g14. if platini wins, suddenly it's 4 into 3 won't go. One of the 'lesser' nations, Finland, have informed that they are going to vote for Johansson... Can't see Platini's suggestion going through this season.
Stevie H Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 have to imagine that the "G 14" won't stand for it though don't you...quite. platini winning the vote just brings the likelihood of a single european league a step closer imo, and that can't be allowed to happen. ergo, he won't win.
Bailo Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Hasn't Platini had some rumours/accusations of dodgy deals aimed at him? Mind you, that's probably seen as a positive in the election process.
Mike Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 bloody hell.wonder what implications this will have?
Cobs Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 bloody hell.wonder what implications this will have?the bloke who presents the European Cup each season might have a fecking clue who the winning team captain is?
RafaShanks Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 bloody hell.wonder what implications this will have? Is this the reason why we haven't heard feck all on the Mascherano saga?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Johanssen's a corrupt c*** anyway. And binning the 4th team isn't such a bad thing anyway
Cobs Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Johanssen's a corrupt c*** anyway. And binning the 4th team isn't such a bad thing anywayno but i'd still be surprised if it happened G14 wont be happy
Stevie H Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Is this the reason why we haven't heard feck all on the Mascherano saga?nah that's fifa, not uefa. quite. platini winning the vote just brings the likelihood of a single european league a step closer imo, and that can't be allowed to happen. ergo, he won't win. mockertastic. g14 will hit the roof.
matty Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Firstly, it'll be too late to implement this for next season's CL. Secondly, as the Guardian said last weekend, once Platini is made perfectly aware of where the vast majority of UEFA's cash comes from - UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, he might find himself backing down. And the G14 will just tell him to feck off. Still, I can't stand Johansson, so not complaining too much.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 mockertastic. you really do posess powers, don't you?
Cobs Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 fwiw Platini is also in favour of 4 linesmen per match Automatic relegation for teams who can't pay their debts but is totally against video replays being used during matches
CarraLegend Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Good news. Agreed, they can cut the Prem to 18 clubs and finally you lot will f*** off when your half decent season is a followed by a disastrous one.
