Had we played our strongest team last night and won, all these pundits would have been saying it was embarrassing that we did and anyway it's only the Carling Cup. I never f*cking realised how important this cup was in the national psyche until last night when our season was declared over and rafa had disrepected dis an dat. Ged should still be here according to everyone in the country as he ruled in the League Cup. We played our ressies in our least important tourny and we got beat. I was truly gutted last night but sh*t happens. Everyone was dogging on our opportunity to be crowned World f*cking Champions last year and saying that tourny didn't matter but last night did?!?!...

F*ck me and F*ck off!!

I reckon we should have played our strongest XI and really gone for it, the moral boost of putting the embarrassing FA Cup home defeat behind us and revenging ourselves being the important factor.

Our first teamers might be fitter after the rest, but these two defeats might affect us worse than tired legs with the high of a victory.

There is no guarantee we would have won, ok we wouldn't have concede six but what about the psychological effect of losing to Arsenals reserves?

They are experienced firstteamers, they'll recover. And besides, there is no way we should be worrying about the psychological effect of losing with our strongest team. That's a luxury only afforded to youngsters.

It was the Carling cup. Of course we played our youngsters. Take this as karma for when spurs battered our kids but went out anyway 2 years ago. How can you doubt rafa on the back of this? If we won it, it wouldn't have made a drop in the ocean in peoples' minds.

We're above Arsenal in the league ffs! If we lose to barca then fair enough it's a less exciting run in and the prospect of not winning anything whhile either one of the mancs or chelsea do win something (maybe 2 things).

Let's see what happens at The Camp Nou.

What f*cks me off is that if we had played our full-strength side last night we still may have lost, Arsenal's reserves were so f*ckin' good. They had 10 fast players, we had 1 (Bellamy).

that arsenal side last night may well have beaten our first XI.

would they feck

load of bolllocks being written about them, sure they played well and deserved their victory but they weren't all that. Hearing on the radio that 'give 'em two years and they'll be League champions' - SCHITE!

Heard the same stuff about how Graham's young Arsenal side were gonna dominate the 90s after they won the League in 91.

They won a League cup match. A quarter final. Well done.

Exactly

Lets not forget as well, that a similar strength team (inc Dudek) saw off a full-strength spurs side a couple of years ago

No way. Every one of their goals was gifted to them by either a combination of defenders and keeper or officials or both. They didn't have to make much of an effort to score.

They may well have beaten us they same way every good team sometimes loses to an inferior team but don't be telling me they would stand a chance against our strongest XI actually playing as they can at Anfield.

They'd be lucky to get a sniff against our defence and we still managed to put three behind them with the team we fielded.

I think we've single handedly revived the Carling Cup's importance.

let's also not forget it should have been 2-1 at half time and not 4-1.

But for disastrous officiating, the game was wide open, not finished by 45 minutes.

Come on lads, the fact is that we were f*cking battered by Arsenal reserves. It doesn't matter what competition it was, or the standard of the officials - our boys took a hell of a beating. Only time can lessen the pain.

Funnily enough, we did the same for the FA Cup two seasons ago.
